I have a Saginaw 4 speed in my 37 pickup and it's leaking at the seals where the shifting forks are. When I pull the side plate off does it need to be in any certain gear?

I'm no expert, but I've always put them in neutral.
Thanks for the info. Can find just the two rounds seals and the plate gasket. Only the whole kit which is pricy.Quote:
