I know some of you know what its like to find a "real" 392, out of the countless trips to find out it was a low deck 331-354 afterward you would just pay the extra for one of these and save aggravation, time & travel. I talked with a Hemi dealer who advertised weekly in the KC Star (large paper) in the 80's and out of every 100 calls he got back then only 1 392 would turn up he told me. Outta be a big deal for nostalgic fuelers as well as streetrods.

I hope the market place rewards them with lots of purchases, it takes cajones to make that kind of investment for a 60 year old engine with relatively limited appeal. Having to go to S. Korea for the casting is not surprising, but we're getting the results we're allowing.

Not released as of yet, Ford FE block is somewhere around 3300 , if it sells for that they will sell some blocks, gotta buddy that paid 1500 for a "virgin" block to find out later it had a crack (if he has to buy another it would be more expensive than one of these new ones), so if you had to do much work (align hone, add 4 bolt caps, sleeve, etc) that appears it wouldn't be out of range. I know this might be wrong but does this mean there will be some Koreans running around with early fuel motors and nostalgia racing? (since thats where its cast)

It will be interesting to see how the project takes off, I wish them all the luck. Original 392s are still out there but as mentioned a lot more are claimed to be 392s than there actually are.

I suspect a bigger seller than the blocks would have been aluminum heads for the 331/354/392s that are a bit more affordable than the current offerings.

I've got some iron 392 stuff but if I was going to get a new block it would be a Donovan 417 with 4.250 sleeves to make it a 443 ( I had good results back in the days!!!)


I'm actually planning/building up a package for a personal 33 roadster that will have a flathead and a hemi that will be interchanged back and forth--being kind to animals so we don't have to kill so many cows or use so much paint/thinners/solvents

Might even do BBC with some of my old prostock pieces laying arond-------just cost of license, insurance,etc on 2 or 3 cars is unreasonable for one person to drive just in nice weather

Ten days ago I took my '29 SBC to a local Chic-Fila car show and parked across from me was a new Dodge SRT which I had not seen before. It was painted plain white with only "SRT" on the fenders, nothing fancy. The owner said the new hemi was rated at 707 HP and here is the kicker, he gets 22 mpg with the 8-speed auto trans. All for a mere $62,000 retail! Conclusion, almost any hemi is expensive!

Don, your right here is what happens when one of the new Hellcat cars gets i the hands of a fool with money! Pretty sophisticated engines if you read up, amazing but I am sure someone will stuff it in a street rod someday but from reading it won't be easy!

I forgot to mention that the Dodge Hellcat comes with a supercharger on the hemi and still gets 22 mpg, due mostly to the 8-speed trans. Last Friday was the last 2015 event for this Chick-Fila site which ends in October. Although it is a local show (with a free sandwich if you bring a car!) there are some amazing cars there! I had never seen the Hellcat before and read up on it later but my favorite was a guy who came in with a fiberglass chopped '33 Ford coupe with no fenders which has a supercharged flathead and a fantastic exhaust sound that can only be recognized if you were a teenager in 1955! Alas the season is over and I have to put on my side curtains and hunker down over the long winter.

I took a ride in a Hellcat Challenger this past weekend, it same to our local cruise night via the local dealership. Pretty neat car, first car I rode in where the cpu screen in the center said 700+ horsepower unlocked (had the red key)! Its a lot more sophistiocated at 700 hp than a true hot rod would be, to say the least, not much noise at idle, had a neat sound when revved up and jumped hard for a burst in 1st (standard trans) I however would rather have my 700 hp in a streetrod shaking the ground at idle and looking the part of hotrod, if I was a "new" hotrod guy who didn't mind a payment this would be my car (vs all others out there) but I'm not, fun to ride in but I'm not ready to give up my true rod's for this one yet!
