    How to increase your MPG

Took my T Bucket out for a cruise today, went about 30 miles on the freeway and everything was running good. Stopped for a short visit then headed home, going through town I noticed at several stop lights I could smell something. Kinda smelled like oil burning off the motor, but not quite. Anyway I got on the freeway and headed home, noticed it felt like it was holding back going down the freeway. Just wasn't rolling as free as usual? Also seemed to be using more fuel? Hummm? Got it home parked it and went to set the parking brake, no need already set! Lol..

One time I was towing a Jeep wrangler behind my RV. About 5 miles down the road a car pulled up beside me and the driver told me the Jeep was smoking. Pulled over as soon as I could and found the parking brake was still set. Fortunately the brakes still worked fine when we got to our destination.

Did that in my 35 Dodge PU. Stopped at the post office and pulled the brake handle back & let it run to finish warming up. Took off and went the long way around town (590 population then) when smoke started boiling in through the floor. Pulled over & cracking/popping sounds were coming from the smoking oil soaked drive line drum/band. E-brake worked better after that.

Some of the bells & whistles programmed into the new cars are good things, like the "Parking Brake On" when the tranny goes into gear.... Even have one on the Jeep with a 6spd stick, and it's been exercised many, many times.

Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.
