Like most car shows they are anything but "Reality" . Always way past the means for a common Hot Rodder to do. The money spent on the cars in these shows high dollar, equipment is endless. I like watching them but its not Reality by any means IMHO.
I just don't like all the drama. "We have to get it done by next Wednesday!" "I can't believe you didn't check that part until today!" "You did WHAT without asking me?" Ad nauseam. . . .
Yeah, I've been around racing and Hot Rodding a lot of years..... Only time I ever saw that much drama was at a party after the races when somebody snuck out with somebody else's old lady!!!!!!!!!!:eek::eek:
What would be more realistic for too many shops today would be, "Hey, we promised this one by the end of the week and we haven't touched it all month. He's going to call again later this morning. What excuses have we already used with this guy??" :(
Or worse, "Hey, we're out of that aluminum sheet we told this guy we use for door panels. Do we still have that cardboard box the big furnace filters were packaged in??":HMMM::LOL::LOL::LOL:
It might be fun for a program to take a 60 Minutes approach to car building and walk into a shop with the cameras rolling and ask why they have taken a guys money and not done any work. Now, I could really go for a TV show like that!
If they want drama they should show up in our shops I run into things that don't fit all the time. You just redo it or some how make it right. The difference is we don't get thousands of dollars to solve them we get gray hairs
