I'd say use extreme caution if you get one of those gals above to help you torque your bolts. I'm sure either of them could pull more than 8.3 pounds on your ratchet handle......:eek::LOL::LOL::LOL:

Em, measure that wrench in inches, divide it into the inch pound value you're using for torque, and that tells you how much force in pounds you need to pull on the wrench, holding it towards the end. If you want to get fancy you can hook your fish scale to the end of the wrench for accuracy. The torque value is not that critical here, but using your "calibrated pull" to get them all close to the same "pull" is.
You might check out NAPA Online. I sometimes find what I need, "reserve" it for delivery to the store, and then call them to see when it will be there. Works when I can find the part in their system.
Don't worry too much with the torque, Em. Just give each nut the same "pull", and don't make it overly healthy. 120 inch pounds is just ten foot pounds, and that's not a very hard pull. I only mentioned the torque because you're chasing a leak, and we want it tightened evenly.
hopefully I can get it installed today before it gets too hot again - - - - the humidity and mid 90s have been brutal around 3pm and I can't tolerate it like I used to - - - - - I got all new gaskets and have resurfaced the intake and both sides of the spacer - - - - NAPA was great about returning the ones that I couldn't use and, between O'Reileys and Auto Zone, I mangaged to find 2 thin gaskets (intake to spacer) and one thicker one (carb to spacer) so I'll go slowly and crisscross the tightening - - - - fingers crossed
thanks Roger
Everyone have a great weekend and Pappy's Day
Em
Got it running and idling at 800 rpms this morning with the first crank - - - - doubled the thin gaskets between the intake and spacer and then put the thicker 7/32" heat gasket between the spacer and the carb - - - - this video is very very short but I don't know how to use this camera that my Step-son gave us but you'll get the idea I'm sure. thanks to everyone and have a great weekend, Em

:3dSMILE::3dSMILE:Good Deal!!:3dSMILE::3dSMILE: Glad it worked for you, and know you're happy too!;)
happy indeed I am - - - remember we discussed that phrase about the blind hawg and the acorn - - - - kinda fits me pretty well don't it???
Glad you got it fixed up, Em. Like I often say after this kind of outcome, "we don't need no stinkin' Permatex" ;)
What a fine bowl of raspberries and 'nanners!!! That sounds good from what little I heard, glad it's running - now you can breathe a little.
nope we don't need no "sticking" permatex either - - - - however, I was watching a video of a feller rebuilding one and the intake gaskets were swimming in red goop and he mentioned that particular engine had those problems before - - - - but I put'em on dry and they worked like a charm
you betcha, Pal, and I am woller'n in it at the moment --- still a long way from being a dependable cruiser but this is a milestone for me
Never had any doubts
Sounds fantastic...WOOOOOOOOOOOOHoooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
took the cover off and cranked her up to run down to the mailboxes at the front of the subdivision and found a little surprise

pumped 44 psi into her and woke up the neighborhood - - - -got a couple of thumbsup from some "other" Senior Citizens and one teenager but she's loud so that's probably what he liked - - - no telling what he thought it was??? hahahahahaha
