Conversely, all sidewall and no rim looks equally "cartoonish" to me! I like a healthy balance. It's interesting that prior to the 50's, most all cars & pickups had 16", 17" or taller rims on them. Just a couple of inches make a big difference. Like, personally, I think this '37 looks far better with 17"(might be 16"s) on it

Personally, nowadays, I would start with 17'"s on everything and go up from there. 20" or 22" is about my limit depending on the vehicle.

This '37 has 17" on front & 18"s rear, which is about perfect for my "sensitive sensibilities" on this kind of car though if mine, I would consider dropping the front end another inch or so....
