So I walked out into the garage this morning, reached under the side of my hood to pull back the release knobs, and to my surprise felt nothing but air at the front latch Since I'm running only the hood top I could easily see with a mirror that both the knob and pin were missing, and that a short awl would let me pull that latch and get the hood off so I could see better. A quick call to Steve DeMarco at Carolina Custom in Clinton, NC told me that the roll pin is a press fit into the latch block, and also got a new pin and knob sent to me in today's mail. Steve wouldn't hear of anything about paying him for the knob, and was very gracious in explaining step by step how to disassemble the latch to get the pin in tight, and then to get the knob secured. It sure is nice to deal with good people who value customer service! And they've got a wide range of custom pieces & parts for street rods, designed and built right!
