Hey Guys,
Anybody know aprox how much sand I'm gonna need to blast a chassis and some small parts? For discussion sake, assume I'm not going to recover and reuse.
Thanks

First, suggest you read through this earlier thread, and then maybe search for other discussions on the subject - http://www.clubhotrod.com/paint-tech...dblasting.html
Bottom line, without regard for anything else you don't ever want to use sand for abrasive blasting. Sand is little particles of silicone, and not only will you push silicone into your metal making it difficult to paint, you can breath silicone dust which is serious stuff - Silicosis. You'll see recommendations in the above thread from guys who media blast regularly.
Depends on how bad the frame is, and how efficient your sandblaster is... With all the mess involved, I don't even do my own anymore. Got a couple of guys here locally that are for better set up for blasting then me. Last frame I had done was at "buddy price", couldn't even have bought the sand for what he charged me!!!!!
Yep Dave I do the same, they blast it and prime even paint it if you want. I haven't done one in years
OK--Thanks for the advice and suggestions. I've searched and found one guy in my area that does it mobile. I just want to do the frame. The car itself, I'm thinking to have dipped. Any suggestions, comments?
Thanks
