The original vacuum motor is only 2.25" tall. It fits next to the cowl vent and does not extend below the vent. From what I can tell the Newport unit will be mounted to the same brackets, but is flipped over and extends below the cowl vent a few inches.
This would shift my AC down a few inches which is significant since the dash is only 8 inches high. If I'm right, then I'll probably design a motor off to the side and drive an added linkage.
