Don't think you'll find any thing in the salvage yard that will work as they are all to big,even the smallest compact cars have a fairly good size HVAC box. Far as compressor you should be fine. I found my used vintage air system on EBAY a few years ago for less than $300 with the unit,condensor,drier,compressor etc. So you might get lucky also.
