Going to get my '51 Chevy Roadworthy

I was going to take out a small loan to finish my Rat rod, or buy a newer truck to increase my credit. stopped in a small dealer which also sells some restored vehicles showcased in the showroom. The truck in the back corner is not for sale, tho I went in and looked at it again as I have several times. 1954 Chevy 3100 factory dump, 3spd on the column. near showroom condition. Figured out that I just need a cool old vehicle to drive around. Other dealer has a '76 Fiat Spyder but they werent open ( probably for the best ). So it came to me to just put the old Chevy togther and just drive it. It's far from perfect, the color did not come out right ( rose colored rather than a grape purple and it does photograph pink), which was why I sort of lost interest. But, it's just what I need and it does need less work than the Beetle to get road ready. So I stopped at TSC for a 6V battery and some Shell Rotella T1 30W oil, got a set of points and condensor at my local autoparts store. Have some 14" S10 ralley's I'll mount some cheapo tires, repair the exhaust. Have to recheck the brake system ( was rebuilt, but it has sat ), change the fluid's and put some plates on it.

Just dropped almost $400 on an order from Chevsofthe40s. New L/S windshield ( got damaged during storage ), some gas tank straps, radiator hoses, exhaust head pipe and a few other odds and ends. I'll put the battery and condensor in weds and pull it out of hibernation. it shouldn't take too much to get it running decent again

Good for you, Matt! You'll be glad when she fires up and you take it for a drive. Much better than "new debt"..

I'll have to dig 1 up, or just take a new pic.. I'm actually going to have a decal made for it's name to put on the dash " Berry Blundered Bomber ". couple people have told me it's the color of mullberry rather than a rose color, but I really dont have that big of a color wheel

Yep. Kinda slow at work tho. knocked all of the invintory lists out the day before, so I didn't have anything to do except clean up.

Got it fired up after a while. New points and condensor became a pain when I lost the nut that holds the condensor wire and points onto the coil wire. picked a few up of various sizes and got 1 to fit.. put some gas in the carb and it came to life. doesent seem to be picking up fuel from the pump, but i'm going to put some new fuel line in the makeshift tank and see if it will pick it up. I think it's sucking it shut, altho the filter and fuel bowl on the pump are full. It may need a new pump, but that's no big issue.

Somthing didn't set right with it not running off the fuel tank ( for now a 2 liter bottle. stock tank is due for replacement and I'll hang a brand new stocker in it's place, along with a new fuel line to the front ).. It came to me. Old cars need CHOKE.. I went out, gave it a little choke and it ran like it should. carb needs rebuilt as it always has but it's running smooth... Must have been working on the newer stuff too long. I'll drop it in reverse tomorrow and pull it out.
