I ran a 57 Chevy in ES/2 in 1965/1966 at Great Lakes. Pretty much spent my weekends there with my Dad ( RIP )in the mid 50s and early 60s. Grew up in the Racine, Union Grove, Sturtevant area. Great times watching Grumpy and Dick Landy, Dyno Don, all the big names made it to " The Grove ". My best time with the 57 was 13:40 at 104 MPH, never could bust into the 12s. I remember one weekend we decided to tow the car down there and had to take the front bumper off to hook up our home made tow bar, left the bumper at home and when we got there they stuck us in FX ( Factory Experimental ). I think Broadway Bob was out to teach us a lesson that day. Those FX cars were running in the 10s back then if I remember right, all good though. We really had a good time at the Saturday night "Grudge" races. Great pics, thanks for sharing and taking me back to my youth.
