That is awesome Jay,can I ask what colour is that and what brand do you use? I believe the colour one is going to finish they project is the hardest decision to be made. Heck I have been stuck between metallic tangerine or a colour very simalar to what you have just sprayed.
And that is a yes from me on more photos of that car please.I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

No problem... but you might not like the answer. I use a mixture of brands, but the candy concentrate is House Of Kolor Kandy Apple Red. The base is more of a problem. The color samples included a ceramic flake... over a black basecoat. We liked it best, but found out they stopped making it a couple years ago. It took me a few weeks, and searching nationwide, to find enough to paint it, and have enough left for future repairs.
Other things you could try would be HOK Ice Pearl, or tinted silver flake, which are similar but weaker. You just have to try different combos to see what they look like.Last edited by HOTRODPAINT; 01-17-2011 at 08:01 PM.

Thanks Jay for your response. I have priced all the materials from our NZ agent of HOK paints to give me a ball park idea of costs but I will hoestly be relying on the expertise of the professional painter to get the finish I am after. Here is a couple of colours that have caught my eye.I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

Sorry Jay,I don't know anything about those cars or who painted them as I found them on a web site sometime last year and because the colour just smacked me in the eyes with it's depth etc.,I wanted to save them. Steve's Auto Restoration rebuild and painted a '40 Ford Convertible that is on there web site that is so like those two cars that also took my fancy as in certain light it looked almost black but in bright sunlight had that deep red colour.I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

This is the car that Steve's finished and by the sign behind I can only guess whose product he uses.I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.
