    Baddest, most dangerous street ride

OK guys, what's the baddest street ride you ever built.

    I'll open with a Jeep CJ3 I built in the mid eighties with a 450HP 454 Chevy.

It wouldn't stop, hated to go around corners, but if you got it aimed roughly where you wanted to go, let's just say there wasn't much at the stoplight that had a prayer!!

Sorry the pictures are so "grainey" but there all I've got.

Mine was a 29 roadster that I built around a motor that was running 10:90's in a 56 chevy. I couldnt keep it going straight and my wife refused to ride in it,I had it built and running for 31 days and put 30 miles on it. I should have built a tube frame for it

Nothing like driving basicly a tin can w/a BBC/400 turbo between the seats in a dropped 69 Chevy Window Van, Nova rear end & M50's on 10" rims inside the uncut wheel wells.
Pegged the needle on the speedo once and then realized what would happen to me IF I had a blow out on a front tire ....joe

Big Dude that "A" Roaadster is so cool and that yellow just screams "look at me"
Pat, when do you find time to build your own cars when you are so busy building those awesome engines?? And what do you drive for everyday transport, something from Japan with 4 cylinders???
Cool thread as I would think we have all build something at some stage of our lifes that wasn't really practical.
I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

Big block powered sand rail, not so much the rail was the badest, it was the driver, no fear, I only rode once for twenty minutes or so, twenty feet in the air over the dunes, saw my life flash in my mind I know I left stains in the seat...!

Back in the mid eighties,I found a Isuzu pickup,a rarity in this country, but built as a Chevy LUV in Australia, and of course,America...We only got them for government departments, and as they got old, they were auctioned off..After reading an article in an American hot rod mag,I decided to give the old pig a heart transplant,so,in went 350 horse/350,th350 and a narrowed 9",crank up the torsion bars, new gabriel red riders on the front, rebuild the brakes, and DRIVE...The 9'' had 2.75 gears,14x8 rear mags,so it launched quite hard without going up in smoke, but that was easy too,,,the smoke I mean... Its biggest problem was,if your wheels werent straight when ya nailed it hard,it had a habit of trying to come around and bite your arse...short wheelbases,,,ahhh, what fun..Was economical on a trip though....if you could keep the shoe out of it every time you wanted to pass someone..
Also managed to get a new tail gate [genuine Chev] out of Aussie, and got the LUV emblems from a GM dealer in Auckland..

This started out as a '57 four door, I cut it in halve used halve of the rear doors and welded them on halve of the front door to get the transition of the body correct. The top was pie cut starting at the A pillar and opened up to match the width of the middle of the car. It was a lot of work, but well worth it. It was a true street wheel stander. Small block and a 4 speed. I built this in the 70's. 86" wheelbase!
