I love my blown hot rod!
ok i play along here is some blower engines i have built the 1471 is for a mild street engine:3dSMILE:
those are some sweet motors.I would love to hear them run. very impressive !!!!!!!
My 1930 Ford coupe has a 671 blown chevy 350 c.i. engine with dual holleys. I bought the total Weiand kit from summit racing (all the name brands are good quality). Engine is rebuilt, but nothing fancy - flat top pistons (lower compression) and small cam. Engine runs like a normal chevy engine until you give it gas - then it is just hold on and hope the tires hook up pretty soon. It's a fun ride! I have 2,500 miles on the car / engine and never had any problems other than it really wants to run out of gas (10 mpg highway, 6 ? around town). Car always gets lots of attention and is super fun to drive. Blower has a low boost and I really don't beat the car very much, just a cruiser. If you want a little better mileage, with good performance, I would go with a smaller blower and a single carb. Have fun.
Hemi.. You must be a young guy with a memory and observation like that. haha Right on. Sat in traffic that day for 30 min before I even made 35E north. another 45 min to get to White Bear exit 96. Never made it out of 1st gear all that way. What a road test. 96 deg . haha The car passed perfect but the driver was flumoxed.:mad:
Forced induction is the way to go. I ran my 144ci (4-71) on my 68 C10 for 3 years with no problems. Even used it to tow a trailer. My 47 Dodge is getting a 4.3 with either a 4-71 or a turbo.
You often hear of hot rodders thinking about fitting a blower to their car/truck, but you almost never hear of hot rodders looking to remove them.
Theres good reason for that :)
