Hi Guys,,, newbe here

Greetings fellow Rod nuts

I just signed up here, and wanted to give everybody a heads up about myself.:rolleyes:

My name is Bill,, I live in the state of Oregon,, I am almost 72 Y/O, and have been into the car thing since I was probably 10 y/o,, I have had a bunch of hot rods over the years, wish I had some of em back now,

I am retired,, but build a few hotrods now and then,,
currently I am working on my 48 Anglia Thames Panel,, Blown/ Nitrus BBC-t-400 and a winterQ/C Chris Alston chassis,, etc etc,, Just at the chassis building stage, but anxious to get-er-dun,, hope to be drivin it by the end of summer,

I noticed another Thames being built on here,, Thought it was mine at first glance,,

Welcome Bill, you will find this a excellent friendly site with so many helpful guys and gals on it. I have always had a soft spot for the English Fords, a good looking project.

I bought this Anglia about 6-7 years ago,, wasn't really looking for one,, it just happend to show up.. You know,, cars seem to just show up and ya gotta have em,,,:HMMM:

so I started collecting parts,, and I ain't getting any younger , so My son and I have another project to do,, but we usually have something going,, either bikes or a hotrod,,

here is the latest shot of where the Anglia stands today

Well I got the F/End all mocked up and found out that the suspension was too wide.. the tires rubbed the fenders, so I had to narrow the frame rails 4 inches,, whats that old saying?? measure 15 times Cut once??? I neglected to measure that once,:CRY: but at least I don't have to add it back on,,:3dSMILE:

anyone know of a program to resize these pictures, with vista

you have photobucket .. set them at 800X600 there ..

That hood scoop is a posterboard mockup of a scoop that I planned on making a few of,, Kinda like the old Don Prudholme scoops ,,,,,,,,,the tape is starting to come loose from setting on the shelf, so thats something else I need to finish.:HMMM:

I have been shopping for wheels,, I want to run spokes on the front, but those spindle mount 12 spokes are over a grand a pair, so I think I will have to settle for the 10 spoke,, I already have a full set of Baer brakes, and the 12 spokes will only work with Airhart or Willwood brakes,, another 1000 bucks,,:eek: Probably go with the American Racing Hopster for the rear,,,,,

Oh the price of toys these days:eek:

Welcome to the site. Ditto on the awesome Thames project. Keep us posted--we love photos.

Well like I mentioned in the last post,, I had to move the front frame rails in 2" on each side because the fenders hit the tires,,, so I cut the rails off just behind the top A-Arm mounts, and boxed them in and now I am making some 3 /16 thick boxing plates to reinforce the rails,, got the sides done ,, still have to make the top and bottom plates,,,

Also made a gadget to help me figure out the back spacing for the rear wheels, and to determine if these monster tires a will rub anywhere,, I am trying to keep from having to widen the fender wells, if possable,, but it looks like these 15 " wides Mickys are gonna work

A little catchup here.. getting things mocked up some,,
ggot the frame welded up. changed the rear tires over to the 10" sprint wheels I had.. kinda makes them buldge out on the sides. and not the right backset,, so I guess ordering new wheels is next,, [ i don't like the sprints anyway,,

Welcome to the site. From thesize of the last pictures I guess you've figured out the resizing thing. Anglia's are pretty cool panel vans! It will be fun to watch this build thread. Looks like you've got a nice size shop filled with my favorite boxes, Summit!

Well its been a while since I have done a update on this,, so here goes

I finally got the chassis and suspension pretty much done, still need to add a couple of X Members, and the body mounts,, and build a sub floor framework to the body to mount all the interior tin to,,

Got the new wheels in and tires mounted, New Brake setup,, aerospace components kit,, money just seem to fly outta my pockets at this point.. The price of toys these days is outta site,,,,,:eek:

set the real motor and tranny in to figure out where I can mount a brake cylinder, and some pedals,, this thing is getting smaller and smaller, :HMMM:

anyway heres the progress so far

Well its been a while since I dropped by,, been pretty busy this summer,
but I did get a bit more done on the Anglia,, just not a much as I would have liked,, That startup date is way out the window,,

I finally got around to making that scoop that showed before as a mockup,, not quite done with it yet.. someday maybe:rolleyes:

had to mount the Alt on the pass side and backwards because of clearance problems,, still have some work to do to that mount,, had to go with a Elec w/pump because the blower belt hit the mech. one A big can of worms ,, pickin em off one at a time tho

OK pictures - don't know what software you are using, but if I'm not using Photobucket, I resize my pictures with Photoshop Elements to 500 pixels wide, and then let the height take care of itself.

The car is really coming along nice! Heck, there's no time limit on a project anyway!!!!

If you have one oversized picture on the thread page it will stack all smaller pictures side by side to fill the space of the wider picture above. Resizing will not work until you go back and resize the ones above, too.
