Wow what a difference there is. Good to know for tweeking those last few horses.
Yuppers, thought it might be useful for those of us who are always looking for a bit more! Heck, gotta have exhaust and mufflers anyway, might as well use the one's that can back up their claims with real world flow data!!!!
Looks like the dual 2.25" with 3 chamber Flowmasters is about right for my 302/5.0. Good thing that I didn't do the oversized 351W that I considered though:D
Thanks for the good info - I had seen something similar when I figured my exhaust - but 'lost' that link
yup, them links get away from me all the time...seems I put them someplace here in the 'puter, then can't find them again..... With this one, as I seem to be building headers and exhaust frequently, I saved this one the old fashioned way.....Printed it on paper and put it in my old notebook out in the garage!!!!!:LOL::LOL:
I have a question, how loud are the borla mufflers compared to the others, the reason i ask is now in some areas the cops are using decibel meters to write tickets, i would have never thought a glass pack was that restrictive, I had the 2 chamber flowmasters on my 68 cougar, with turndowns in front of the axle that is probably why i cant hear very good now. haha
Simon go to their web site and click hear it now
you can also do this with flowmasters.

Dave, that's great info, thanks. I'm just as interested in the sound levels too, it's a shame they don't have the decibel numbers to go along with the flow numbers. I'll be using 2½" pipes for my Deuce but I don't want mufflers that are too loud, just a nice rumble.
Mike
Well, unfortunately the guy who did all the flow testing is a lot like me....Flow counts and the decibals don't... However, did get a notice today that some of the cicle burner tracks are going to be requiring mufflers to reduce the sound levels a bit on race cars this year, though they aren't talking any big reductions.... Guess we're going to have a sound cop at the drags for test and tune so if you want to know what your car's exhaust puts out, you can find out.... Think I might try the Vortex cones in the collectors on the 'maro, supposed to cut about 10db or so...
Checking out all the mufflers for decibals would be kewl though....Would be interesting to set up some parameters and test a few different mufflers... We did test some exhaust and a few different mufflers on the chassis dyno for hp and torque a number of years back...maybe we could check for loudness in the same manner????????
