I'm close to heading out 500 miles to N&N to pick up my '33 roller, and had a conversation with my insurance agent (Am. Family), who is my full cover guy. According to him, liability for the trailer & cargo is through the towing vehicle, but the value of the cargo is through the policy for that cargo - ie, if I load up my JEEP, wreck the truck/trailer/Jeep, then all liability is through the truck policy, but since I don't carry collision on the old beast, my JEEP is fixed through my JEEP policy, and I just lost a truck & trailer. If the vehicle being hauled is uninsured, then it is not covered other than liability for damages to other property. He says that before one hauls a car, they need to be sure that the car is insured for the loss, and since the '33 roller is not a "vehicle", does not have a VIN, etc, etc, it cannot have an auto policy. The only way to cover cargo is via a Commercial Policy, which is $$$$ costly.

Tha answer may be to add a rider to my Homeowner's policy for stated value of the roller package - have not looked into that yet, but that may be the way to ensure coverage. Anyone else run into this problem? The alternative is to have it delivered, and let the commercial carrier carry the risk.
