Tucson "Cops & Rodders" show

We have our biggest shows this time of year. This one is organized by the Tucson Police, and is a charity event. It was held at our oldest ball stadium ...HI Corbett Field ...which has hosted national teams for winter training, and even appeared in a Michael Landon movie. I don't know the number of cars, but it was in the hundreds. The weather (as usual) was nice ...in the mid '60s & sunny.

I got some interesting shots, but you won't see many generic rods here. I have been involved too long to stop and look at the "usual stuff" ...so these are things that are different enough to catch my eye. If you pay attention to the backgrounds, you will get an idea what kind of turnout they had. Enjoy!

P.S. That's an early Caddy motor in the green hiboy sedan.

Yes! ....the '64 Dodge IS a Hemi! ...and you will find offroading is popular here, hence the blown Chevy powered Jeep.

I have no idea what the last one in this post is ....or what it was built for. Maybe board tracks ...hill climbs ...or it might be a "prehistoric fuel dragster"! :-)~ I assume the roll bar is a modern addition.

I did like the AMC. Was DA34guy there. (just wondering)

When I was in high school I new were there was a field full of those old hemi engines Iam talking at less 40 to 50. they have sense be taken off for scrap

If you mean the blue one, I think it's a Javelin. I tried to trade my 409 '62 Chevy in on one of those when they were new. They offered me $150 dollars for my car! I told them I spent more on the tires than that, and walked out!

Thanks for those pics HOTRODPAINT,even though I produce 32 5w & 33 3w bodies,I enjoy seeing the different bodies,would love a 41 or 42 convertible,or 2 door sedan,actually I think my wife would like one even more,and the seeming large number of 30s and 40s 2 door sedans I have seen in American magazines does it for me too..Different IS kool..

Jay, looks like a great turnout (and a nice warm day).

I would have liked to have gone to that one, but I'm currently sitting in NW Illinois (freezing my butt off and looking at rusty old cars :LOL: ), back here on a short visit.

I guess I have tocome back here once a year just to remind myself why I moved.

Would have been worth going just to see the Mopars!!!! Of course the Javelin ain't no slouch, either!!!!! Heck, they're all nice!!!!
