Wheels, think I like these!!!
Been considering what wheels to put on the 'maro... I don't really like the new styles, but then again not sure the old styles will look right on the car... Found these, Sumitt name on them, no idea who actually makes them but I think they might be the comprimise in appearance that I'm looking for.... 17X9's and 17X8's....

You might want to step up to an 18 for the rear. With the body visual "taper" the variation in size works better.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

Thought about that, got to look at see what I can get in an 18" tire with the diameter I want and still a bit of sidewall... But yeah, the 18" wheels would look nicer.....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

They do kind of look like those, HRP....Do they give the old and new look at the same time....that's what I'm after.....(If that makes any sense).

Wheels like those are timeless. Astro Supremes, American Torque Thrusts, Cragars, Raders, etc. I like the ones you posted Dave, and I'm normally not a fan of 17's or 18's. I agree about 1 inch bigger on the rear if you can get them.

I don't normally like the big wheels either...just trying to keep the car a bit modern looking....
Guess if the 18" wheels leave no sidewall for the tire in the diameter I want, I could always go 17's on the back and 16's on the front?? Have to do some more checking, I guess.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Those are nice wheels, Dave. You are right to check on the right tires before commiting to wheel size. Tires today are getting to be a pain unless you want rubber bands or drive a 4x4.Roger

Going to use the BF Goodrich G Force Radials, they have a good selection of sizes, just have to go to the 40's to get the diameter and width combination that I want.... Need to have a low diameter (26" rear and 24.5" front) to get the ride height and suspension geometry to all come out correct.....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

OK, idea #2--
These are C5 Vette replicas....
I can get 18X9.5" for the rear, 17X8" for the front....
They do make the G Force radials to fit....

In my honest opinion,Dave,I like the Astros,might be an 80s car,but those Astros would look right at home I think..A friend has a 67 Firebird H.O with 17 inch Cragars,looks good,I dont like big cart wheels either,but they suit the car..Will try to find a pic of it.
