    Cool Surprise!!!

I had a serious flashback the other day: I was backing out the drive, and heard a rumble in the air, but couldn't put my finger on just what it was, or where it was coming from. Since we live near an airport, I sort of thought "old radial engined plane", of which there are several flying in and out. But, there was something about the sound that really got my brain to working, and just about the time it started to dawn on me, I saw a 29-30-31 Model A roadster pass down the street, with the unmistakable growl of a flattie and straight gear tranny. I went that direction to see where the guy went, and he lives just three doors down the stret, said he had just gotten the car running after a two year resto, and didn't have any mufflers on it so it was sort of loud. I thought it was great, and didn't need any mufflering. I have seen him around the local neighborhood several times since, and that car still growls just like it should.

Cool. Get us some pictures, or better yet, sign him up as a member here. You do know Mr. Mustang pays a commission on every member we sign up?

Well, Don, how about this for a follow on to the first post?: On Saturday I was putting out the first batch of holiday lights, for halloween, and I caught a glimpse of a blue mid-thirties convert passing by, V8 sound - my brain said Chevy - and all, but it was gone before I could really get a looksee. A bit later I was resting my back in one of the porch chairs, and that blue car drove in the drive behind my pickup. It was the same guy, along with his wife, and they were just out cruisin' and exercising another one of their cars; I wonder how many more he has back in that big yard. Of course I didn't ask, but that thought did ramble through my head. We shot the breeze for a few minutes, and they went on their way, but it was a real treat. The blue car is a '35 Ford convertible, and has what, through the side louvers on the hood side, appears to be a "Mouse Motor", and the tranny stick is a vintage looking top cover type three speed; classic hot rod, all the way.

Heck, ASK! Most car guys are more than happy to show you what they got. Maybe he has one he'd like to part with. You never know.

Very cool stories, wish I had some neighbors with cool cars.
Makes me want to stop by and talk to some of the people that have cool cars that I have noticed sitting in garages as I drove by. Just always figured others would figure it was none of my business
Me: I don't know how to build a hot rod.
Old Hot Rodder: You ever build a model car?
    Me:Yeah...
Old Hot Rodder: Well instead of using glue you weld.
