You may not be a pro but you set the bar pretty high for the rest of us novices! It's looking great! Nice Job!

Lots of internet searching, and like everybody says your canvas has to be straight before any paint goes on :D
I have spent almost a year doing bodywork, of course off and on
What I tell my kids dont be afraid just do it , lifes learning lessons. No being afriad to mess up :D
Looking fantastic!!!
Could not look better!
Don Jr.
I hear ya! I had originally intended to get mine done for october. But, I keep finding flaws I can straighten out. So I keep going around and around and around.....**)**) My best friend keeps telling me I'm such a perfectionist but I just tell him it's something I want to take pride in! I know it'll never be a 100 points "auto".. I just don't want it to look like a hack did it either!
It's funny too that people think I "do it all" around cars when the truth is I just keep trying to do it all!:)
Beautiful!
Looks great:cool:
PRO53,that looks awesome,,its starting to come together now..It makes such a difference when the paint goes on...
Yea but now I am getting anxious  The striper I am wanting to use is comming over today, I hope he is reasonable, because being Christmas , haveing kids, doesnt leave much money left on the table this time of year
I have one striper that says he will stripe the flames, dash, headlights, grill shell, 150.00. Thats cheap, but he is not as good, novice like me. Even with paying for a striper should put me at around 1200.00-1300.00 in a paint job, including bufffing materials, not bad I say :D
Thats just paint :D
wet sanded 600, striper striped it, recleared 1 tack coat, 2 full wet coats, all that is left is cut and buff :D

So pleased with everything, never new I had it in me to do such a nice paint job, it's all in the body work :D My buddy Max stripped it for me too. Nice to know people, still cost me but real cheap.:D

Congrats!
Don Jr.
Man thanks, I cant wait to drive this thing
All I know is it sure is time consumeing. I did body work and block this car for almost a year to paint it white  Every day after work and weekends almost. I dreaded walking out there grabing a sanding block, hand sanding sucks:D but sure pays off

Mr.Blue,
Did you ever have a problem with a steering arm from speedway for a corvair?
I bought one from them for my corvair box.
Nice work on the headlights and block. Great shade of blue.
Getting alittle more done. Polishing a cast cover was a pain. I had to even grind out alittle for it to fit :D

Nice cover. I know what you mean about polishing aluminum. I polished a tunnel ram once (and only once!).
Pro53,
Love everything about your A and excellent work on everything you have done. I wish I was even close to prepping my 34 for paint.:(:HMMM::LOL:
Jack.
You mean you didn't have the better half out in the garage wet sanding the car with you??? Heck wifes just don't know how lucky they have it with rodders. We stay home to work on our projects instead of been out with the fella's drinking, watching sport, gambling and doing other stuff that I can't mention on here,so they should be thankful....:D:D:D
The car is looking excellent BTW.
Here some updated shots, almost there :D

Have you fired it up yet? If not, when you do we need a video of your first burn out.;)
Jack.
Now, that is what I call a hot rod! Looks great.
Like the blue flames Pro53! Also like the way you did the seats, would love to see a few more interior shots.
Pro53, so sorry I missed your question earlier about the corvair steering arm. Yes I had the speedway chrome short steering arm strip where it meets the steering shaft. It left me with no steering in front of the shop (thankfully there instead of at 55 MPH somewhere) Then the second one they sent me snapped in half while pops was driving the car one night. THANK GOD HE WAS NOT HURT!:confused:
I found an original Corvair arm off of Ebay, painted it up and have been fine ever since. The stock Corvair arm is longer than the Speedway unit so if ground clearance is an issue be careful. Pops might chime in here but Speedway was going to come out with a forged steel steering arm after they had so many issues with the one I had breaking.
What arm did you end up using?
Sorry again for missing your question. Don Jr.
PS your car looks out of this world cool :D:D
I have the chrome one. I bought it about 3yrs ago. I guess it going in the trash:eek: Thanks though. I have all forged stuff but then had some of it chromed. I have a stock arm. Guess I guess it might need to paint it and put it on. I wonder who makes a forged one? Thanks for informing me.
There new design, and one more:D Guess I can try one of these?

PRO 53,
Yes that "looks" like the original arm I ordered from Speedway that broke twice:eek:
Your life is worth more than a steering arm. In my opinion either of those speedway units would be great and those are the ones they replaced my faulty arm with later. Did you chrome arm you have now come in a "mr roadster" box? Mine did.
Heres a pic of my t when the arm first went on.
I am thowing that one in the trash when I take it off. Will buy a forged unit. Luv the color on your t bucket. My 53 ford truck was similar in color. When I repaint it , will be the same color. Your bucket is awesome, so is your dads. Would you run a forged chrome one?
Thanks man. It is Ford Grabber blue and has always been a favorite of mine:) I like my T a bunch thanks for the compliments. It never fails to put a smile on my face.:)
I would have no problem running that chrome forged unit at all and in fact would have run it if it were available in 2007. It just was not an option for me then. My car has alot of chrome and polish too and I may add that chrome forged arm too for a bit of bling on there. Once again love your A, awesome car.
Don Jr.
Tonight Don and I were at the shop together and talked about the steering arm you are running from Speedway. They were buying these from Total Performance, and as Don mentioned, the spines on the first one rounded right off after driving the car 20 feet. We figured we did something wrong, ordered a new one. I was testing it out one night after installing the new one and at about 35 mph I heard a loud "snap" and lost steering. I was in the slow lane of a 3 lane road, and luckily the car veered off to the right and I ran it off the shoulder. I called Dan who went to the shop ,removed the original Corvair arm from my 23, and brought it to me so we could get the car home.
I called Speedway the next day and they reacted immediately. They tested some from their stock and they broke easier than they should have, so they pulled every one from inventory and refused to sell any more. They also refunded the money for both arms we had bought.
Here are some pictures of the arm after it snapped.
