Most of the dash is original. Someone just cut out the center metal which should be easy to fabricate and weld back in. Easier than changing out the whole dash board and cheaper! I already bought (on Ebay of course!) the chrome piece that covers where the sterero is now, to the left of the glove box. One thing at a time.....Trust everyone once. Just be cautious of what may be lost.

cool, yea that is what I'm talking about, the chrome speaker grille.. dash looks plain without it, but I'v seen many with them removed and just filler panels welded in with gauges and stuff. do you have the 1 that is less heater controls? I'm not sure if it used a delete plate or the chrome panel didn't have the slots.. I have never seen a '51 without a heater so IDK what was used originally, only know that heaters were all optional.. Standard equipment on Deluxe cars ( yours being a 2dr ht is likely a Deluxe ) but they could be excluded from the deluxe option package if it was ordered that way. same with radio'sYou don't know what you've got til it's gone

there welded in.. but that would look pretty sweet in your car, even tho I'm more partial to the factory speaker grille, that 1 doesn't look too bad.. I don't see the clock delete plate from the top, so it's likely it's had a little metal work there tooYou don't know what you've got til it's gone

".......So sanded it all down and resprayed. ......" Been there. done that on a couple of paint jobs over the years. Usually took me a couple of days to get over being mad before I started...
