I am not sure that I would call that a "suicide hood." When I was in high school, a buddy had a '58 Ford with a Thunderbird engine in it. We were cruising on the west side of Indy and he punched it. About 85 mph the hood came up. Fortunately, for a few years those Fords had the front hinged hoods and there was still a little room between the top of the windshield and the top of the hood that he could see to pull over. We just pulled over and put it down. Had it been a rear hinged hood it could have caused some serious problems.

It would be nice if this up and down crap would cease.
