Thanks!....Now I gotta pull that 80's instrument panel outta there! I dont know what whoever installed it was thinking.....It just looks sooo out of place in there......but he took the time to hook everything up! Wont be hard to change out. Just gotta fab a panel to weld back into the dash when I finally pull it. Im just holding out for now cause I wanna sell the car and dont want to put much more into it.

I think what it really needs is an unmolested dashboard to get things back in order... eliminating the speaker grill, takes away from the dash design.. whoever did those modifications was drunk or blind or... somthing.. looking pretty good tho.. coming along nice.. mine should be rolling in a few weeks.. week behind now, but it'll be in paint soon.. then I get to put in the interior, which I have never done b4, so this should be fun

Most of the dash is original. Someone just cut out the center metal which should be easy to fabricate and weld back in. Easier than changing out the whole dash board and cheaper! I already bought (on Ebay of course!) the chrome piece that covers where the sterero is now, to the left of the glove box. One thing at a time.....

cool, yea that is what I'm talking about, the chrome speaker grille.. dash looks plain without it, but I'v seen many with them removed and just filler panels welded in with gauges and stuff. do you have the 1 that is less heater controls? I'm not sure if it used a delete plate or the chrome panel didn't have the slots.. I have never seen a '51 without a heater so IDK what was used originally, only know that heaters were all optional.. Standard equipment on Deluxe cars ( yours being a 2dr ht is likely a Deluxe ) but they could be excluded from the deluxe option package if it was ordered that way. same with radio's

there welded in.. but that would look pretty sweet in your car, even tho I'm more partial to the factory speaker grille, that 1 doesn't look too bad.. I don't see the clock delete plate from the top, so it's likely it's had a little metal work there too
