'66 Impala
JUST WONDERING,WILL A FRAME FROM A '65 IMPALA HARDTOP FIT UNDER MY '66 IMPALA CONVERTIBLE BODY?MINE FRAME IS BADLY RUSTED OUT AT THE KICK-UPS.I FOUND THE '65 FRAME FOR A FAIR PRICE,BUT DON'T KNOW IF IT WILL FIT?

The suspension was changed in 65 and lasted to at least 66 if not later...You might find extra frame parts under the convertible body that are there for added strength because of a lack of a roof..I can't answer how important they are....The cylinders have to be inline.!!!

Hi John.
Welcome to CHR.
I'm restoring a 66 Impala convertible in the shop. I just looked at the frame and I didn't see any extra reinforcement on it. I'm sure that the 65 frame will bolt right up to your 66 body. I don't have a 65 to compare it to so there may be some differences that you could see when you compare the two. I would measure the frame thickness with a micrometer at the side rails. They may have used thicker steel on the convertible frame but I doubt it. The hardtop needed a sturdy frame too.

John I has a 65 chevy and the frame is the same as the 66. BartKeep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!
Is it going into a build, or making a trip to NM?
