Sounds like you just want temporary wiring to get it started only? If so, get yourself an accessory ignition switch. Once you have the basic components in place like your distributor, coil, and starter you can run some wires from that switch to those components, enough to start it up.
On the starter will be three terminals typically, unless you are using one of the small gear reduction ones. One is a big fat terminal, your battery cable goes there. To the small terminal on the starter, to the right of the fat one you will put a wire to the S or start post on the ignition switch. You will then run another wire from the fat post on the starter to the B or Battery post on the ignition switch. Finally, you will run a wire from the I or Ignition post on the switch to the + side of the coil. (another wire will go from the - side of the coil to the distributor).
Depending on what distributor you are using that may be all you need, but read the owners sheet on your distributor to see if you require a ballast resistor to drop the voltage to something like 4-7 volts. Some do, some don't. That should be it. You should definitely run an
oil pressure gauge during fire up, and that is very straight forward too.
Oh, and have a fire extinquisher handy too, just in case.
