AmeriCARna 09
Little over three years back, the local chamber of commerce head offered the organizer of Beach hop,the opportunity to bring beach hop to New Plymouth...The answer wasnt polite..:D So JR built his own monument.AmeriCARna..Top event held over three or four days.Kirk Jones from J*****Jou**al has been over twice now and taken some awesome pix. Here are some of my personal favorites..

Thanks Colorado 815. JR has done every thing to a grand scale. Every where we go during AmeriCARna the school kids are out waving American flags and cheering, the towns get right into it,even closing down the main roads thru the towns where we stop, usually for an hour or two,to let the locals walk around the cars and talk to the owners.JR has brought out from US a few vehicles, and owners,of course, for drawcards for the locals to see, including the Alstotts roadsters last year,Schroeders RPU and roadster the first year and the Alstotts drove around in the rain with the rest of us...In a regular rod,ok,but these folks did it in their 35 show car..
This year we had Gary Meadors and his wife with their 29 roadster..kool car indeed.
There has been a giveaway car also. First year was a mid eighties vette, last year a mid 60s mopar and this year was a 67 Pontiac Le Mans convertable.
This event is cut off at 800 vehicles,to keep it manageable, with all manner of iron from a restored 39Packard roadster to virtually new Vettes.
These photos are just a few of my personal favorites. With the favorable exchange rate at the present time,$2.00 for an American dollar, maybe some of you folks need to come down here for a holiday and check out the scenery...:D

Some great shots and some really great cars!!! Thanks for taking the time to put them up for us all to see!!!! Looks like Hot Rodding is alive and well all over the world!!! Sure would be fun to come visit, maybe Obama has a bridge funded in the bailout money?????

Down here..
No probs Dave, have been meaning to post some pics from this side of the world for all you Northern folks to look at,but a bit slow to follow up.
Will try to post some photos of the Kumeu Festival that Ken didnt have time to see when he was out here..We also have the Beach hop in three weeks,so a veritable ship load of pics will be put up on the OTHER site I frequent,so I can supply a link as well.
Kirk Jones has put a pile of pics he took while he was down here,on the hamb..He seems to like our F100,he took a pic of it last year too..:D
