Thanks, Ken. Actually you are in the majority, right now. When I attend shows, this seems to be the preferred building style.

...then there are those people who, through many decades, always like the same thing, no matter what changes the hobby is going through....like me! I am a big fan of "one-of-a-kind" builds, that will not be confused with any one else's car. It isn't just rods. I was active with Corvette clubs in the '70s. We were scooping hoods, flaring fenders, and adding striking paint, but today the events look like a "used car lot". I did some graphics on a 2006, and he has won best paint at 10-15 events....but usually, actually, has no competition.

I remember reading an article (by Tex Smith?) in Hot Rod years ago, where he jokes about attending a huge show, then trying to find his red '34 Ford in the parking lot. Ooops, wrong wheels....Ooops, interior color is a little different....and so on. Funny stuff, but too true, if you are looking through my eyes.

Still, this is a hobby that is supposed to be for individualizing your car....and if you like a solid color, that's what you should do. Too many people today try to pronounce that there is a right or wrong way to build, but then it would be a hobby of "sheep". I wouldn't like that. The variety makes it more fun to "look".
