    2.3 turbo or 302

     



    well i have a 1980 pinto hatchback weighs a little over 2000 pounds thinking of sticking a 302 or a 2.3 turbo out of an svo mustang is these processed hard and what has to be done to
    the body i have seen the 2.3 turbo,s beat a lot of 302s
    i would like to run low 13s to high 12s

    the 302 would be heavier, and weight is not good. tighter fit, more heat issues i would think (headers and clearnaces and such). more torque with the 302 though.

    I'd lean toward the 2.3, with an intercooler or course.

    Also, with the 2.3, you could have lots and lots of space to add any acessorys you want. Ram air, large bore turbos, anything. However, diddnt the pinto have Way to much space under the hood anyway? why not go with a 302 turbo?

    No substitute for cubic inches

     



    I'd go with a 351 Cleveland if you can find one. If not, then find a 351 Windsor. Good luck with your project.

    2.3 Intercooled turbo! Definitely! Of course, I'm a little biased toward turbo motors!
