67 Camaro SS may have missed a deal
Has anybody had this happen before? Yesterday while taking the grandson home after him spending the night I spotted a 67 Camaro for sale in a yard. My wife wasn’t to impressed but on the way home she did stop. Another guy pulled up as I was walking to the house, the guy said is there a number? I said no and kept walking, I spotted a couple of guys and asked who’s Camaro. Then the young gut started asking all kinds of questions is it a numbers matching, any filler? Now I was getting pissed off and said I wanted to look at the car and I was there first but this guy was jumping the guy. The young Notre Damn guy didn’t like that but I thought I had been doing this a lot longer then him.
I wanted to see the engine and again this guy starts asking about the carb, and he see’s it has the double hump heads. The jerk was leaving and said he would let the guy know.
The owner thought he was with me at first, of all the years I have looked at cars, if someone were there before me I would wait until they left or decided they didn’t want the car. My wife being in the car I know she does not like to wait while I talk, and talk so I said I’d get back with him.
Now in the car my wife ask if I was going to get the car or not? I said I didn’t want to commit right then without talking to her. My wife said I will go home and you can go back. I said if it’s ok then I’ll go back and I give him a deposit.
I told the guy I could give him a deposit and it would take me a couple of weeks to get some money, earlier he said it would be ok that he could hold the car until I got some money together. Now he said his friend had been trying to get the car for a couple of months, and he would take my deal if the other guy didn’t want it. He said he would call me this morning either way. I think it was the Notre Dame guy, even though he said it was someone else. The car needs to be finished, he said it was a California car, true SS code on the firewall, and door jam say’s it is I know tags can be changed. The floors look great, as there is no carpet. He did put new quarters on plus the rear panel that holds the taillights. The engine came from a 72 Chevelle it’s been rebuilt painted looks really nice, it was a car with factory air, it has disc brakes, Muncie 4 speed. He wanted $6900 he came down to $6700 so now I have too wait. It needs paint complete new interior but the glass, and body is pretty nice. If the Notre Dame guy doesn’t it get what do you think?
I really do not need another project but these Camaro’s are getting scarce. I was going to take some pictures but I felt like I’m going to lose it after not giving the deposit when I was there. I can live without but!!!!!!!!!
