Mike, I'm not an expert, but have used few different kind and replaced some. You are right about the "Shock style", they are a better product depending on your set-up. Are you wanting to adjust your height or adjust the ride quality or both? The straight bags are great as helpers, let's say your ride sits pretty low for normal driving, they can raise you a couple of inches to get out of situations, on trailers or car lifts, you wont have to use a jack! But if they are used as primary suspension, it gets bouncy or stiff depending on psi.
