Fake Ardun valve covers for SBC
Anyone know who makes or sells them? I saw them in a recent magazine article.
Nice twist on a boring sbc...

If sbcs are so great why do people hide them under fake valve covers?

I said "boring SBC"...not "great"

Maybe sometimes a person just wants to try a different look. Isn't being a bit different, a little of what building a rod is all about?Leo

I run BB Fords now, But will admit the sbc is probably the best all around and most well designed motors ever built. As far as ease of working on, and availability of aftermarket everything parts they are just a great motor to use. They are running on the same basic design since the 5o's and have more than earned their mark in history. Just my opinion though!

There's also a couple different places on eBay that sell blank, unfinished cast aluminum covers for a bunch of different engines.... They have the mounting holes, but that's it... Could look at them, lots of opportunity for some creativity.....engraving, powdercoating, whatever else you could think up to individualize them..... they also have a matching blank air cleaner top made of cast aluminum..... Just another idea for you to consider.....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

sorry, I wasn't looking to stir up a bunch of SBC trash talk, just looking for some info on some valve covers...

Sorry, it did come off a little trash talk. I do not dispute the attributes of the sbc, I just don't understand the fake valve cover thing.

maybe because he doesnt have 20k for a real ardun so hes gettin the next best thing.

But the Ardun's were for a Ford!!!!!! Seems to me they would look a bit out of place on a sbc...... Be kind of like me having a bow tie air cleaner......
Didn't see any trash talk anyway....or was it already deleted or sumpin'???Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

I think it was last month's Street Rodder mag where there was a SBC disguised as an Ardun flathead. Just wondering if the covers were a marketed product or not. Not sure how you guys get trash talking from that...

I am literally blown away from the comments I received from my simple question about the valve covers. You guys are a bunch of crybabies. Go re-read my original post and tell me where I trash talked anyone or any motor, NOTHING was deleted.
Why don't you guys save your comments for the HAMB.
BTW, here is a clip from the article I was refering to, hope this pic doesn't make you burst into tears...

Gusaroo - The price for the fake Olds covers are kind of pricey (about $200), so I suspect the fake Ardun's aren't going to be cheap, especially if they are aluminum. Actually the first time I ever saw them was when you posted the photo. Good luck finding them.
BTW, had a cat named Gusaroo! A red tabby with white markings. Unfortunately for him, he is no longer with us. Got laid out by a teenager in a Mazda one night last year.
We still miss him.
Hope you fair better in life than he did.

Geez. Excuse the heck out of me!!!! Just curious why you'd want covers for a Ford on a Chevy.... Hey, if that's what trips your trigger, who cares???
Guess I still don't see anyone being a "crybaby"---just wondering why was all..... I'll certainly never bother again.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!
