I forgot to check the Hot Rodders rule book first, Rule# 252, measure the depth of your oil pan! Geezus, what a sheep dip. I couldn't figure out why when I aired out, the front end wouldn't go down all the way, a duh, it's sitting on the 8qt oil pan....Now I have to put a 5qt in, it takes it just above the crossmember. Anybody need a Miloden 8qt powdercoated black?

Wow, NONE of US EVER do stuff like that!!! :rolleyes: ;) Ok, I'm lying, it happens to us all the time. :D Let's face it, few of us are Engineers with computer programs to map this stuff out before we weld in in place, so occasionally you have a little ooooops to fix. It seems to really crop up the lower we make our cars. If they were 18 inches off the ground there would be lots of room for components like steering tie rods, and oil pans.

OH i did that had to slide the oil pan over the rail tracks it a angle when i drove my car to the boat yard i work at. after welding it up and beating it out . in time i went to a pan that was not so deep but the thing is the roads are so bad around here. the upper A arms bottom out and smash in to my wheel wells on the chevy that were color sanded and were so nice :mad: .they failed to let any one know they ground down the road in a spot . all most had to pull my teeth out of the wheel:(
The exhaust looks a bit low as well......:whacked:
I've done the same.Still do dumb things as I get older> Thought it was the other way around?????. Your exhaust system looks like it's got about 1" clearance. Your air bags all the way down on that picture?

No, they have a inch to go and will stop on the bumpers. Exhaust was on there to break in motor,
Rule # 101 Break in motor before bolting on front end parts..Just in case!
It needs to come up about 1 1/2", I'm using oval pipe for clearence, then will jet coat it...Now that I see how exposed even the new pan is, my plan is to use an old 4x4 transfer case skid plate as a deflector shield...Then I'll name her the Enterprise! :3dSMILE:

You are only out an oil pan. Years ago, I mis-measured an axle, and wound up paying another $250 to have Mark Williams make another one. I made the wise decision not to inform the wife of that boo-boo!

A week before that, I forgot to wash the metal down after stripping the door, and painted over stripper residue! As long as there is no blood involved I'm happy!:LOL:
