Having trouble with CHR

Just an FYI email from Brent I thought I would forward to the group:


Just letting you know that I have set the server to automatically reset internet services every two hours. It means the site will be down for about a minute every two hours, but since I'll be out of town and may not always have access over the next two weeks, I figure it is the safest given some of the little gremlins that I am still trying to kill.


Of course there are issues that are being worked on, but this may be a rocky two weeks, hang in their folks.

I sure do hope that the problems get straightened out soon as I'm starting to see fewer folks here on a regular basis. My guess is that they are moving elsewhere so they don't suffer the down times.

I had trouble with the site last night. I was able to get in and read several posts, but then when I clicked on another post I got a message that the item could not be found. Tried another three or four post with the same result. Finally gave up. Thought it might have been my funky government issue laptop, but other sites worked just fine.:confused:

Today there seems to be no problem now.:D

...yeah, it happened to me last night & again this morning. Gheez, here I am trying to get a Hemi to fit where a small block once was & the site keeps going down? Without clubhotrod I'd have to PAY someone to put my Hemi in!!!! Bill

Thanks for the heads up. I got home from work, and wanted to check out new posts but couldn't log on for over a hour, until I quit. I'm coming on on some projects that will require member assistance as well. So I hope Brent ferets out those demons!

Actually I spoke too soon this morning.:eek: As soon as I posted the previous post and left to look at another one, I could not get back in. That as about 10:30 am. It's now 2:50 PM and I can once again get into the forum. Hope this ends soon as it is frustrating.:(

Oh wonderful - I appear to not be receiving all subscribed thread updates again
or else they are lateren n late coming thru!!

Oh well - no big deal - just frustrating.:(

It seems to be getting worse instead of better. :confused: I never know if I can get on or not, and I'm sure lots of others are having the same problem.

What I don't understand is that none of the other 5 forums I am on have this problem, they just keep clicking along. What are they doing that we aren't?

Good question Don, this site is a great site. But people will leave if things get too problematic. I never know if I will get in and read a few posts or not. It is frustrating.

Now that I think about it, the other 4 sites that I visit regularly, rarely if ever have any problems or down time. It is annoying, but I keep coming back here because all of the light hearted and gifted people are here. :cool: Can't imagine being a full time player at any of the other forums. Life's too short to be bored to death at my age. Gotta have enlightenment and challenging thought to keep the juices flowing. :LOL: :LOL:

I just come back like no one was home the first time . Thanks for heads up Bill . Alot of times i come here and wont get in but thats no problem . Wander off for a bit then wander back and the door is open friendly folks here .. Thats what i like about this site ....

Sure am glad to see that I'm back to receiving only a third to a half of my subscriptions again. I lost my OEM name the last time I tried to fix the problem so will live with it' this time. :CRY: :CRY: :CRY:

Dave I'm experiencing the same problem. This site has been very glitchy since the reload.
Brent any ideas as to what is going on? This is the best site I've been too, I come here just about every morning and night. Something is definately not right. The fact that I don't get email updates when people have posted after me really seems strange. Also the constant downtimes in the middle of posts. If it is a matter of money, hit us up, I'd be glad to pitch in for tech help!:3dSMILE:

These last two I got and from Youther, within 2 minutes after he posted. Oh well I just go to Users CP and check my subscriptions - just like last time that this happened:CRY: :LOL: :LOL:

What I am getting sometimes is I can log onto the home page, but when I try to click on a particular thread I get a screen that says not available. It used to happen occasionally, now more often.

I also notice amount of threads and posts are way down, perhaps others are not able to get on either.

I said that about the low number of posts several months ago right about the time Brent put up his new servers

I too have the same problem. I think the reasons the threads and posts are down is the fact that the forum isn't always on line, the fact that emails aren't being delivered then throw in the fact that a lot of folks are having to work longer hours to pay for gas at $4.00+ and groceries ($3-$4 for a loaf of bread, steak at $10-$12/lb and $4.00 for a gallon of milk) and the car hobby is put on the shelf out of necessity - plus it's summer, kids are out of school in many areas and the winter's honey do list needs some size reductions.:HMMM:
