Can't believe how some guys think nothing of putting their life in danger.
Wow, that is really dangerous. Rocks are not made to hold up a truck like that, he should be using WOOD. Here is the proper way to hold up a truck !!

Safety first!
chocked is how I always spelt it
How about chocked! Seriously, one of my biggest pet peeves is to see someone working under a vehicle using only a hydraulic jack for support. when I try to explain that they are for lifting not holding,I get looked at like I have two heads. It's their life, not mine I guess. Hank
C'mon, guys, give 'em a break, they're just tryin' to get into the Darwin Awards!
I learned young about the necessity of jack stands.... When I was in high school a very good friend of mine was killed when the concrete blocks holding the front of his car broke and crushed him.... Never forgot that lesson......
I think by him worrying about the truck rolling backwards would be his least concern.

That guy is probably working on the brakes too. You know when the 1st lining started metal to metal he just cut the line and pinched it off. Then 2 more wheels did the same thing so now he HAS to fix it.
There's an old fellow who lives across the street from me (yeah, even older than I am). I looked out the window one morning to see him up under his van replacing brakes. He was all humped up in the wheel well with one bumper jack holding the whole mess up. I ran to the garage, grabbed my floor jack and hustled across the street with it, placing it under a crossmember. He looked sort of surprised at what I had done until I explained that he was too young to die. He laughed at that and thanked me.
Does this guy qualify for the Award?Quote:

When I was growing up our home was on about 3 acres, and when my Mom felt I had reached my quota for non running cars she would make me call a junkman and get some of them taken away. The one guy we used was a black man who would come with this huge old stake truck and his Wife and about 5 young kids.
His technique for getting the cars into the truck was a little unorthodox to say the least. There was a hole cut in the front corner of the truck bed and he would position his truck between the car he was taking away and a big tree. He would fasten a big chain to the car, pass it through the hole in the truck bed, and wrap it around the tree. Then he would prop the front of the car up on some 4 x 4's (his whole family pitched in to lift it up :D ) so that it was sitting nose high. The idea was that the car was tightly chained to the tree and couldn't move.
At that point he would throw the truck into reverse and drive backwards as fast as he could until the back of the truck hit the 4 x 4's knocking the car into the bed of the truck. As if on cue, his whole family would run up and finish the job of pushing the car into the bed. All of this operation probably took them 15 minutes as they had it down pat.
Every time I had a car to junk my Buddies would make sure I called them so they could come and watch.  I can still see those poor helpless junk cars being catapulted into the bed of that truck.
