Project Count How many?

Is there another car nut out there like me? I hope so I don't want to be the only crazed person on this site.:whacked:

How many projects do you have in waiting? Are they making progress or are they holding you back? I have too many to concentrate on just one up till now but I hope when the new floor pans for the Nova I'll change some of that.

The only reason I'm starting this is because I saw a forty-ford pickup truck, and a forty-ford 4 dr. sedan this morning on the HAMB the 4dr. is over $23,000.

I said to my wife I had those and you kept it up until I sold them because you didn't want them around.

My wife said to ask how many projects the members have, you have a garage full and None of them are for sale.

It is like an obsession I would like to get one running so I drive it, maybe the Nova this year.:toocool:

1948 Willys Jeepster- 1/2 apart. Had to move it outside to get the truck in, collecting parts

I remember reading an article in one of the hot rod magazines a while back and it dealt with mistakes the average builder makes in building his/her car. Right at the top of the list was "DO NOT START ANOTHER PROJECT UNTIL YOU FINISH THE CURRENT ONE."


I don't know one rodder who sticks to that rule, even though it makes perfect sense.

Me:

1) Restore my old '27

2) Finish up my '39 Dodge truck

My Son Dan:

1) Finish up his '29 roadster pickup

2) Start chopping and turning his '49 Ford into a tudor.

3) Build his '30 Sedan that is stored in our loft

and who knows what new find we may drag home tomorrow. :eek: :LOL: :LOL:

I have two life long projects, my 57 Olds and my 34 Plymouth. Both are 95 % done and probably always will be.:D Matter of fact, I'll probably be done before they are. :( :CRY:

Just two in the garage.....let's not talk about the others that aren't in their though, it's a loooooong list!

Hmmm! lets see now!

1-37 chevy pickup needs total resto
1-68 impala ss needs a break job
1-harley that needs a new brake light switch
1-61 harley davidson golf cart that needs a motor

1-1965 wife original frame needs total rebuild , but has excellent bumpers!
5-heathens that need partial or total brain transplants..plus a new one on the way , that will probablly be the worst of the lot!!

32 Ford 3 window coupe, almost finnished. Will post pictures soon.
35 Ford pick up. Iv'e built the chassis for the pick up 23 times but I keep selling it to pay for the 32.

That sounds like a pretty good deal, you must be making some nice chassis. :toocool:

How many 35-ford chassis's does it take to build a 32?:) :)

Just the truck and the Harley. Sold eveything else for those two. It's easy to get distracted, but I hopefully have learned my lesson. We'll see!:LOL:

I've come to the conclusion that Hot Rodding is about as addictive as heroin, just a whole lot less harmful!!!!!

86 Camaro
71 Camaro
72 C-10 long bed pick-up [going to be a sleeper}
63 Nova 2 door hardtop [going to be a street beast]
85 5/4 ton Chevy 4x4 pick-up[driveable but never truly done]
86 Chevy 4x4 [driveable but never truly done]
68 2 1/2 ton 6x6 [runs, but needs to be freshened up a bit]

now if I could just win the powerball, I would have the time and money to finish them.**)

Original 35 to 40 Ford frames with Heidts or TCI Mustang II front suspension, Small block Chevy engine mounts, turbo 350 trans mount, 8" Ford rear on parallel leaf springs, power brakes, plumbed and juiced, POR 15 paint. I have done a few with Ford engine and trans mounts by special request. I'm doing one now for a 37 Chevy pickup. That's the upholstery money for my 32.

That's some great looking chassis work Allen!!!!! So many folks get so hung up on the engine, they forget (or don't realize) all the horsepower in the world won't do you a bit of good without a good solid chassis!!!!!!!! I particularly like the way you've done the X-brace and the center support, very nice!!!!!! Wide frames certainly do present their own set of challenges!!!!!

One of those would look great under my 39 Ford coupe, the guy before me butchered the frame pretty bad by putting a 283 with a 4speed in it. Its been sitting for the last 40 years. I see people finding them today in better shape then mine, oh well if I didn't have it, it would give one battle to loose about my old cars but this one I win because it was with me before the litte woman:toocool:

I don't think my frame can be saved, If could afford it, I would contribute to your 32 build also. Very nice work, thanks for the pictures

Thanks for the compliments guys. Building the chassis allows the car hobby to be self supporting so my wife can't complain about me spending household money on the cars. It also pays for new tools and an occasional new firearm. My wife pretty much leaves me alone when it comes to the cars. She is a real sweetheart. No complaints about all the time I spend in the shop. She always knows where I am.

Grandson and I have a '47 ford effie in progress (two years now) started somewhat on a '29 essex coupe, have a '52 GMC cabover out doors along with a '95 ford explorer, '84 chevy s-10 blazer, a '95 ford taurus, a '91 mercury topaz, a '51 chevy 4 door that we drive in the summer, a '72 ford mustang 'Sprint' model, a stripped ford '88 ranger frame, a whole '93 ford ranger needing some front end work, (car in front stopped, we didn't), a 47 ford effie 1 and 1/2 ton chassis (minus the tin), an '89 chevy G20 van minus it's motor, (that's what is going in the '47 pickup), an '89 ford E350 Rockwood motor home we use a couple times a year, and Momma's mini van Dodge Caravan, a '79 Chrysler LeBaron that a daughter drives, and my favorite, a '95 GMC 2500 11 passenger window van. 56 chevy truck - will be a cookie cutter...currently running a62' vette motor 327-borg warner super t-10 4 speed...will get boxed frame, IFS, IRS,bagged,tubbed,BBC89-bronco -5.0 bought new, ran it in the ground 250,000 hard mud slinging miles...what a great truck...will get 460, body and suspention lift, 40" tires and a soft top85 mustang converitble - can't make up my mind...could be a budget build and get 331 stroker...have two spare 302's a C4 and a C6 sitting on pallets...plus the one that will be removed from the bronco..looking for a 62' to 65' nova to put the blown 350 into...

About 4yrs ago I got rid of EVERYTHING :eek: :whacked: I had on my property, 3-S10's -- 55 Stude Wagon -- 50Ply -- 84 Chevy Suburban & 92 Park Ave and only kept the 48 Bus & the wife's Trailbblazer. I figured it will be some time before the bus is done so the rest of the stuff had to go because I knew I'd never get to them...joe

Just one 1988 s-10 that i also drive everyday.

1- 64 C 10.. had it 'almost done' and now the primer has rusted thru. probably going to sell it soon.

2- 36 chevrolet master sedan.. sent it away yesterday

3- 78 firebird it was really just daily transportation. But the wife wrecked it.
it is now a driveline donor. Or I may sell it for parts, dunno yet.

4- 69 chevelle nomad. This was never supposed to be a project, but wasn't exactly as good as I thought it was. It is my current daily driver, and will soon be sold for something more economical.
