sure would be a blast!!!! Just too far away, and the wrong time of year.... Someday I'm gonna just trailer a car down there and spend the whole dang winter cruizin' and checking out the sites. Everytime I've ever been to Florida it's been on one of them hurry up trips and ya just never have time to just take off and look around.....
The PINK T resurected! It's funny the frame does look purple Don, but the old pictures of it look pink. I love some of the gun metal greys that a few guys are using on line right now. Joegib just posted this one which is a beautiful grey color,

I'm sure what ever you choose will look great! It will be fun to see this project evolve. One nice thing is you've already done it once, which takes a lot of the initial stuff out of it, and you already know how it rides, so you know what to expect in the end. Plus you have two other rods to steal parts from!:eek: I meant Dan and Don Jr's.:D

I got more of the frame stripped down tonight. Only thing left is the rear end and rear spring. Frame still looks solid, no evidence of any cracking or anything. I do realize that my workmanship has improved over the past 20 years.....I look at some of the stuff I did and wouldn't do it the same way today. But, it worked, and I had limited tools and equipment back then, so I guess I did the best I could at the time. The structural stuff is ok, just the neatness of running brake lines and stuff like that will be much better this time around.
I should be ready to have the frame sandblasted in another week or so, then I can get some primer on it and start concentrating on the suspension.
Nothing to take pictures of tonight, maybe tomorrow when I get more of it disassembled.

This one should go pretty quickly... that is, as long as you keep Dan working on his car. If he gets sidetracked on this one it will end up with a new frame, Jag rear suspension, air bags, etc.:LOL: :LOL:
Maybe you should stick with purple, just not that vagina magenta color. I had some purple mixed once that was beautiful. The only thing we could find a recipe for was Chrysler's "Plum Crazy". If you put that near a true purple, it has a decidely red cast to it. So, I found a shade of dark blue that had large metallic flake. Then I had the guy mixing the paint to substitute pure purple toner for all the colors in the recipe. It turned out a deep pure purple metallic that almost looked like metalflake purple.:D If you know someone in the paint business that will mix what you want, it's a possibility... You might consider doing everything all one color like your son Don's roadster. That makes a really clean look. Like you said, though, it will tell you as you go. Funny how these things "speak" to us...:rolleyes: :whacked:

A good color combo in the grey world would be an old Ford color called Folkstone Gray (more of a taupe), mix that with some burgundy/maroon accents and you'll be golden. Or in your case...........golden oldie.........:D

As for the color thing, yep, back to the same old dilemma we all face, "what color do I paint it?" It will probably not be decided until I walk into the paint store and plunk down my money. I've had some of the same thoughts about the color as Bob and JRobinson mention, and have also thought about blue and a bunch more. If I were colorblind it would be sooooooo much easier. :D
Oh, for any of you who are running Posies Superslide springs and have wondered how long those slider buttons last............I tore my front spring apart last night and was surprised to see the buttons are almost like the day I put them in many years ago. I would have expected to see them almost totally eaten away from the constant rubbing, but the thickness is still about 50 percent or more of what they were originally.

I know a guy that used black and orange and it turned out real sharp color combo...........LOL. I like red real shiney and dark gray metal flake, but that's just me.

Don---In regard to what colour will you paint your 27---I think you have already partially answered your own question. I seen a post last week where you were complaining about how difficult it was to keep your most recent build (the black one) clean. Go for a lighter colour this time. I find that the yellow on the Wild Canary is very easy to keep clean.
A grey would definitly be subtle compared to how it has spent most of it's life. I think what ever it is think about something sharpe and bright.
Thanks guys for the input. I find myself looking at all the cars around me at traffic lights to see if any color jumps out at me. Trouble is, there are so many nice colors out there right now that probably any of them would look ok. I have some time before that stage, so I'm sure some color will grab me before too long.
Today Dan and I went to the shop but only had a couple of hours to spend because he has to play for a wedding tonight, but while he was tearing some stuff off of his '49 I started to evaluate what I have to work with and what needs replaced on mine.
I thought a lot of the chrome suspension pieces would need replaced because most of them are in the 20 year old range right now, but after spending some time with an SOS pad and some chrome polish the ones I worked on today came back surprisingly well. I have noticed a real difference in the chrome plating some suppliers use from the cheaper brands........most of the parts on the '27 came from Pete and Jakes when it was Pete and Jake who owned it, and the chrome plating is really of very good quality. Even after all these years the parts still cleaned up almost like new. That's great because it sure is going to save me a bunch of money. :)
Now I can concentrate my dollars spent of stuff like new wheel cylinders, shoes, master cylinder, etc.................those safety items where we don't like to take shortcuts. Rusty chrome never killed anyone, bad brakes will. :3dSMILE:
My plans for the next few weeks are to continue cleaning and bagging those parts that I can save, and getting the frame sandblasted. I have a couple of extra holes I drilled in the frame over the years to mount stuff and I am going to weld those up and do it the right way now. At the time I just wanted to keep the car on the road, so some modifications were not done as well as they should have been done.
Here are some pictures from today. One is of the spring perch before cleanup, and the others are after cleaning them and the lower shock mounts. I also took a couple of pictures of the frame now that everything but the rear axle is removed.

Dan got the rear door stripped off and all of the windshield moldings off. I guess he and I are going to pop the windshield and rear window out, brace the body and start cutting the top off. I know it is taking time away from his '29, but maybe this little break is what he needs to get a fresh start on it.
He has one door on the way from Ebay, so when that comes we can see what needs done to make the fordor a tudor.

You can call that color purple if you want . . . but it would look good on a tutu. :LOL:
Brian is right. Yellow is easy to keep clean, however, insect repellant is required. The flies really like it.
My only question is what does a guy do with two Ts?
