I bought the Rambler because it was unique. original 196 will stay unless somthing happens to it. with 58,000 miles on it, it still runs w/o a leak.

It's a keeper!
I wrenched for AMC in '67-68 after Army service, she'll run forever with good maintainence and use a lot less of that $3.25+ gas we are are stuck with.

3.25??? last time i filled up premium was $3.97 ... and california is about to pass a super stupid law that is requiring vehicles 1966 and newer to pass a smog test.... along with smog road sensors with cameras so they can catch polluters getting away with it..... its complete nazismjust because your car is faster, doesn't mean i cant outdrive you... give me a curvy mountain road and i'll beat you any day

Yep looks just like Grandma's car! Hers had plastic lined seats! Not nice in 110 degree Fresno summer heat!

Don't you just love that simple engine. Tons of space , no nuckle bangin and a powerhouse for a staight six! Even the carbs are easy on that car!

I have a friend that owens a Rambler. I had heard somewhere that someone is bringing back the brand. At another site someone is building a wagon and dropping in a Mazdog that will be turboed. Looks like the lesser brand is getting noticed. I always liked the Javalin or the AMX. Then the Grimlin was fun for a bubble.

Well, I'v arleady had a little nuckle banging under the hood but it was bound to happen.. getting the throttle cable retaining pin out... when I was pulling the cotter pin that held it in place, when it released, I smashed my nuckle into the hood and skinned it pretty good.
