There is an un-named phenomena that occurs when you try to carry repair/spare parts. If you fuel pump breaks, you go buy a new one....and buy two....one for the repair and one for a spare. As of that moment, you will never need another fuel pump as long as you carry a spare. I had a car once that carried a spare fuel pump, starter, starter solenoid, distributor, fuel filter, alternator, and coil. None of that stuff ever broke again....
