I just thought I would throw this one out, to see what direction we need to go. I am sure your feedback will help all the guys who are making up designs. This one is the rough design. There is still some clean up to be done.

Here's a try.
It's not any comparison to yours though, Don.
Mike
This one is rough, but it is another idea...

I really like the phrase! Nice! I like how you are incorporating a car too.Quote:

I have another design that I did on the computer, but now I can not get it to post. I guess I should just stick to pen and pencil.
Pablo
OK got the 2nd one to post.
well hear is mine looking to go heads up with dons T:LOL:
Here's my submission, tell me what you think and please be honest.....
I hope I'm not too late to get in on this. I've got 17+ years of experience in this field PLUS I'm a car fanatic so I thought I'd throw a couple ideas into the ring here...

Any thoughts?
Just for the heck of it....

OK Had to give it a shot -
Couldn't find an old Dodge Logo - and would probably substitute Chrysler for the Mopar Logo after thinking about it.
ok !!!!! LETS SEE IF THIS WORKS, if it came out , I couldn't load the original
one, so I had to take a picture of it off the computer , sorry but like I've said
before I 'm not good with the computer, I was going to see if I could emailed to denny so he could put it on for me , sorry denny but you seem to lots about
this things,,,,
Here's a fairly quick design I put together, using a few simple effects on the text to make it stand out a bit, and using hot rod style fonts. It kinda looks a bit odd, with the curve of the main text, and the angle that the car is on, it looks as though none of it is centred or lines up, but it does. You kind of have to look at the image as a whole for it to look right, instead of focusing on one element at a time.
I also put it on a T-shirt design just to see how it would look. I'm open to any comments and criticism, or suggestions for colour changes, I wasn't really sure what colours to go with. I may do a few more similar designs, but with different car pictures etc.
Anyway, here is my design.

Ok, here is my second design? There's no limit to the number of entries is there, because I might have a few more, but they're all basically very similar, just a different car or text position. For this one I decided to go a bit more straight lined, the text is no longer curved and everything is all quite parallel.
Here it is.

I think I'll make this one my last one, unless I come up with some more bright ideas, because they all follow the same themes, and are pretty traditional, hot rod style designs I think. I guess it would have been nice to get a different car on there, but the kinds of cars I have chosen represent hot rods as a whole pretty well I think
Anyway, here's my design.

Ok, I lied, here are a couple more! One with a '55 Chev, and another with a pretty cool Woody!

Just for clarification, the designs I have posted are only really examples of the style that these banners or logos, or whatever they are, could be done in. The pictures I have used have come from stock photos website, and it just so happened that the best, high quality ones that suited what I had in mind for a particular design, were mostly of the roadsters. However, I did make the '55 Chev one, and the Woody one, just to show that any car can fit in there fine.
So I have created one last design, featuring many cars. I have taken the woody and the '55 Chev from before, and put a coupe in there, as well as a Mustang (though I think a Camaro would be preferable to be honest, represents muscle cars better in my opinion). But again, any car coudl go in there, it's just a matter of finding the pictures to suit.
Just a warning, it's a little bit larger this time.

everybody needs to vote. # 26 looks great:3dSMILE:
how long are we going to vote before we know what the tee shirts are going to look like?
 41 Votes????? Where the hell are the other 5000 members?? Must all be either in the garage or watching American Idol because they sure as hell ain't here. Send out the emails Brent, the lost souls need a wake up call:LOL:
Don't get me wrong, I love deuce roadsters, but I hope one doesn't win this contest. If it does we might want to consider changing our name to Club Deuce.
I thought you had to make a Logo not down load one from the net . Come on ( Bob. P ) I know you could have made one on your own ? Looks Like Denny W and the others Did ? I think we should start over . I have a photo from the Net that I would Like to change a little and add to the contest  I can put it on a T-shirt !Quote:

Well I'll probably regret this but,
1) Designing a logo for an entity with this many viewers is worth far more than $100. I realize this was just a token jesture for the family but .........
2) The entries might have been better served as anonymous, that way people would be less inclined to be personal and more inclined to go with their eyes.
3) What T-Shirts? Ain't got one right now and the existing logo looks OK.
4) Is this really the oldest exisitng hot rod forum?
5) I have come to vote 10 times and still cannot. I is hung. :whacked:
Well, enough from muah ..............

I dunno, I really like a few of them quite a bit. In the end though, I think we already have an existing logo that really fits us.
Coca-Cola changed their formula a few years back and their level of success with that move is well known. While I know this really isn't the same thing as that, it does make me ask why? Why the change? Is the old one needing a make-over, just getting a bit boring? Perhaps we as hotrodders can't leave well enough alone and have to shake things up from time to time? Is there some rule, that I'm not aware of, that we must change it every so often to stay "original"?
I'm not near as active as a lot of the other posters on this site. I'm also not one of the ol' school club hotrodders, and I don't know near as much as a lot of you fine folks do; but personally, I appreciate the look, feel and identity that comes with the original.
To me, the logo that we have already encapsulates a lot of who and what we are. A mixture of all types of people that drive all types of cars. Mopars, Fords, Chevy's, etc. and for better or worse, we do try to help each other out as much as we can. Our methods may leave a little to be desired at times; but, we aint perfect, and neither is our logo, which is one of the reasons, to me, it works so well. Consider the 3 window coupe, Different fonts for the "Club" and the HOTROD magazine style font, the flames and the scripting that come from 50's and 60's at least on Chevys anyways. To me, the logo we have already represents us, and quite elegently at that.
Don't get me wrong, I think a lot of what was submitted really was top notch. If the site had just formed recently and was looking for a new logo to make a "splash", I may very well vote for one of the others (I almost did anyway). In fact, I like a lot of the submissions better for a t-shirt/hat/letterhead, I just don't like the thought of rebranding for the sake of rebranding, and I'm concerned that is what we're doing.
In the end though, I guess the only thing that stays constant is change. So, I'll live with it and won't worry about it again. For what it's worth, I do really like a lot of what has been posted. You guys/girls are some incredible artists and have real tangible talent. We already knew that though by seeing the pics of your craftsmanship.
Oh and not that anybody asked; but, I'll be fine with whatever is picked by the group....or by the owner of the site, as this is all free to me anyway....
Edit: I also see that the ones that are in the top 3 are the ones that I would have picked to be there had I been voting for a change in the logo.
Good Luck to all those that submitted.
Dutch
I could try to recreate the earlier post I did, but anybody who was interested in it probably has a good enough memory of it, and those that don't probably wouldn't pay it much heed a second time. With that in mind I'd just say perhaps there should have been a choice of "leave what we got", though a slight modification is available to voice that I suppose.
As for why Brent chose to do this, my guess would be he wanted to spark some increased participation after the long server down. Not sure if it made a difference or not.
I would hope no one is letting any personal feelings sway their vote, all should just go with their gut on which one peaks their interest. In that vein, I find it interesting that a submission from a "new guy" is tied for first as I write this. Seems pretty democratic to me.:)
I vote for keeping the existing logo. I think that should have been an option. I think that is why many people have note voted at all.
Bob
oops, sorry. #12 it is
Bob

When is the voting done? Hard to think that only 66 people have voted
so far!!
I voted for your first design. However I really thought that it would have been kinda neat to have a number of cars revolving for the car shot on this web site. I myself having a 26 T coupe would like to have my own car on the shirt/hat. Each person wanting a hat/shirt would need to pay extra for their specialized version if they wanted it and their picture would be in the revolving.Quote:

I wanted to use a drawing of the car to keep the number of colours fairly low, thus keeping the overall design simple, and in a sort of traditional hot rod style, which I thought was important if it were to be printed on a T-shirt.Quote:

If my design or designs do get selected to be produced, then I would hope that there would be some discussion about the images of the cars used so that we can try to portray the correct image of the forum, as a club that is accepting of a wide range of cars. In saying that, I think it's important to keep it simple. I guess it's just finding the balance.
I hope all that makes sense.
