Dan is a master at forming these beds . If he could slip in extra time he has a market im sure. We all can see this truck is rolling along allready Don . I think you'll hit the goal this time . Remember the you tube when you start it up for the first time .

Thanks G and Bobby. Yep, I was definitely happy when Dan decided to jump on board with this project.........if I built the box it would have been out of Masonite or something like that. There is also "talk" that he may cut up and give me the louvered tonneau cover he had done for his '29. He is going a little different direction with the RPU, and may not need it. He says is could be cut to fit this one. I love getting all his cast offs.

I think what swayed him was me telling him he could use this truck until his '29 is on the road. At least he can have something to go to some cruises and shows in until that happens, and I can't drive two cars so it works out fine.

I hate it when kids get smarter than you. Tonight Dan came home from a gig and said he had been giving the front end of the truck some thought while driving. He never has liked the Plymouth grille shell because it stuck out so far in front, and I didn't really care for it either, but felt I had to run it so far out because of needing tie rod clearance.

The reason I put the tie rod in front of the axle is because I am running the spring behind and felt there was no room for it back there. Anyway, he was convinced it would fit, so we ran over there real quick and turned the steering arms around, and they actually fit real well behind!! Now the front end is much cleaner, and he also felt we could now mount something like a '35 Chevy grille shell up there and get rid of the Plymouth one altogether. As a test, we borrowed the '32 Ford grille shell my other Son has sitting for his T bucket, and I have to admit it now looks more like a traditional hot rod.

So, I am in the market for either a '35 Chevy, or some truck grille shell from that era. Started scouring Ebay, and if anyone here has something, I would love to see pictures.

Here is a picture of the Plymouth grille shell we won't be using, and a couple showing the front end with the tie rod now tucked behind. A couple of little spacers will give us even more frame clearance. I also got my Ackermann back!!!!!!

Don, I'll bet the nose off a dodge power wagon will fit,and they made them up to 68 in the same body style. You might want to toss the grill,it's steel and not light,but i'll bet you could make something custom in a hurry. Hank

That's a thought. The more we talk, the more we would like a 34-35 Chevy grille shell. The width seems right and we can shorten it to fit. I've got some feelers out and am watching Ebay.

You might also look for a mid to late thirties International truck grille, they have a similar shape to the Chev you're seeking.
