67 cougar xr7
hey all, i'm not putting the car up for sale yet, but what arounds do you think i can get with a fully concourse correct restored 67 cougar XR7 with a 289 HO, auto tranny, and all factory options? my neighbor wants me to put his car for sale and I'm seeing around what price range i should put it up for.... i already know what he needs to get for it, but that is not to be disclosed :whacked:

289 HO ???? Splain Lucy please
-
itd be the high output 289.... aka Kcode... 270HP instead of 220ish
-
Since everyones definition of "concourse" is different I have to ask what is the engine code in the VIN of this car?
-
dont know yet... gotta go over and check it out.... the owner says its concourse correct with a 289HO which he said was kcode, but who knows he mighta been a little wrong.... i'll be able to find out tomarrow when i go over there to take pictures of the car.... i'm gonna take at least 100 so people can get a nice clean idea of the vehicle

I know there's an exception to every rule but I don't believe the high performance 289 was ever put in a Cougar and never put in any Ford product with an automatic. I would check it closely. Good luck!

Sister had one brand new came with the 390 but auto .
Following ebay alot i looked at some clean bodied but not restored pull in the 3k area . I also never heard of a K code being avail in a Cougar just the Mustangs . But if it was super clean bottom to top and restored i would guess 10 to 15k but thats guessing not seeing the car . Restored is also to me all new components , suspension , interior and rebuilt drive line .

For the record, the 67 Cougar had a very limited (so as not to detract from the Mustang line up) drivetrain offering. 289 2V and an ultra rare 390 4V for the 67 model year only. Sorry, no factory "K" code in the Cougar for 67.
As I stated before "everyones definition of "concourse" is different" Still curious to see pics and the door dataplate and VIN codes.

The 67 Cats had 3 engine options. 289 2 bbl 200hp vin C, 289 4 bbl 225 hp vin A, and the 390 4 bbl 320hp vin S. There are some really good Cougar forums out there. I'm a newb with mine and these cars and have learned a lot.
www.mercurycougar.net is a great site for info. Nice guys and forum.
Sounds like a nice car you bud has. No stock hipo 289 tho unless it's aftermaket.
Mr Mustang (Bill) just wanted to say congrats with the new bizz venture. Wish you the very best with it! Where is it located? I might need your services someday if your not to far away now.

sure thing dave.... aint my car anyways

NO 289 HO Thats why I wanted him to explain that engine. The " K "in Mercury's does not mean Hi Po as does say in a Fairlane or Ford product
