Radiator support rods?

O.k. On a hoodless street rod, what is the best direction to run the support rods? I am refering to the rods that go from the firewall to the radiator shell. I've seen them go from a center point on the firewall to the top corners of the radiator. I've also seen them go from the upper corners of the firewall to the corners of the radiator. Why are they used differently? I have also seen them run from a mid point of the radiator to the corners of the firewall. What's the deal?

Thanks Tech. but I plan to use my original radiator and alter a shell to cover it. On the back edge of the sides of the shell - I will attach the radiator to it. So, my plan is to run the rods from the shell. For me, the shell simple hides the radiator and provides the "look" of an older hotrod. I understand that this is not orthadox but its my approach.

One of the local guys rods have knots in the center. Looks cool and he tells everyone that they were to long so HE tied the knot so they would fit. Always get a chuckle when someone believes him!!!

Well for now my "T" only does 142 in the ¼, ( 6-71 going to change that ) total performance lower rad mount does great, mabey I'll add after the addion of the huffer .
