Just some dang old four door....
Look sexy to me. I't wil be bad to modify this, it's my opinion.
Thanks for narrowing it down, Dave . . . .
You're welcome. To be a bit more specific, it's some dang black four door with wide whites..... Does the back window maybe look like an Essex? If I remember right, they didn't have much for badging......
The winged lady radiator cap should be a hint, but I'm drawing a blank.
I am going to go out on a limb here and say its a 1929 Dodge Sedan.
yes thinking it is a dodge but the first thing i was thinking was essex ? hell one or the other. look at the hub caps they should say what it is. cool car just need some machine guns
Machine guns and Al Capone in the back seat. It is sweet looking.

back window & radiator cap tells me it's a 31 Ply..joe
You know what, Jack. That's just what Yellowtudor needs to build. Plenty of room for his tall body.
I had kind of zeroed on late 20's - early 30's plymouth myself. Although, the wooden wheels suggest late 20's rather than 30+.
I guess I could go ask.
I was thinking that a 440, air suspension and some deep black paint could make that into a hotrod limo.
No way I need (or can afford) another project right now, though.
What you mean can't have another project??? Heck, I'm about done with the current Merc, and ready to start on your's with one of those "special" engines designed for us geezers who still have the need for speed!!!!Quote:

Dang Dave, your making me feel really old. I'm down to only 4.:) By the way, I'm sayin 29 dodge.

The hood ornament and the louvers in the hood sides don't say Essex. I'm still thinking Plymouth.
I't kinda off, but interesent me...Doesnt anybody have Cord 812? I think that a artist art.
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...9/DSCN0231.jpgi can add a few hundred posts to this thread if no one objects.. most every car i put up is within about a twenty mile radius of where i live .. and almost all are not for sale .. the owners would rather let them rot away ..
There's an original dual-quad 409 engine sitting in a garage in Omaha. The widow won't open the garage since her husband died. A friend of mine knew the guy, and bought the car before he died - but with a 350. As far as I know, the 409 motor is still rusting a way.
maybe its yard art hoss..theres a ton of stuff around here as well sittin out in the yard rottin away and dont even make the mistake of asking its for sale
but to each their own .. i know where a superbird is sittin complete car with hemi sitting out back of a guys house with a tarp half over it , the wing is sticking out and he has his prized VW sittin in the garage.... hey jack sorry no idea on the black 4 door .. looks like a old chebbie to me..
Essex sounds good to me too, or maybe a Whippet town sedan. The grill kind of looks like a wippet grill to me.
it does'nt look much like my 29'er,back window way different!:whacked: ,my fenders are a lot wider!
looks like a essex:HMMM:
this a 30 plymouth
1st id club with with a 4x4 then   steal his car!

essex had a square back window. i think it is a plymouth. they had the oval window in the back.
so many cars of that era looked exactly alike .. i hate trying to guess those models .. many have nuthing more than a dif name cause it was orderd to be built by a dif company ..same coach maker ...
i remember in about 1984 i was a cable auditor and traveled the states all year. we were in ashland KY. way out in the sticks. my coworker and i were basicly not working and driving around. we rounded a corner and straight ahead in a field sitting up to the rockers in the dirt. it was a blue 69 Hemi Coronet, Hemi badges on the hood deck lid and interior console it had a small amount of rust on the fenders and doors, the quarters were a bit ate out at the bottom, other then that a complete car. the owner came out and said he blew it up in 1974 and its been there ever since with the hemi still in it. we asked if it were for sale, he said he never really thought about it. he said he had a 440 in the shed that was good and he would take 800.00 for the whole mess. we drove around thinking how crazy he was wanting 800 bucks for that thing. and a month later moved on to the next town. man if i knew then what i know now, what a couple stupid punks we were!!!!!!!!
in 1976 only a few years out of high school and living at home i looked at a 69 429BOSS at a car lot in fayetteville tenn .. like new car but had a knock in the motor .. 2000 bucks .. way high i thought for a car with a bad motor plus 2000 may as well have been 20 thousand to me then .. i have many more such things to relate .. i`m debating a thread of such stories but iv`e told them so many times on so many other dif sites .. iv`e been a car nut since i was 3 years old ..
Not too far from me there is a car collectors old house, second house but he kept the cars in the garage, more of a barn but concrete floors, finished inside.
I know there is an Essex and and a 1930's Buick.. few people were privaladged enough to see the cars and the others are more exotic/ unknown but are antuique. my grandparents did there yard work and my grandfather saw the cars. The old guy died and his wife never knew how to drive the cars, but will not get rid of them because they were her husbands pride and joy.. theres like 6 cars in the garage, and all were restored professionally. there still in the garage, dry storage but time will eventully take it's toll
right up the road from me is a 53-5window GMC p/u complete truck in not very bad shape as of this moment the springs have gave way as its loaded with what appears to be $300 bucks worth of aluminum cans i have asked the old timer that owns it if he would possibly sell it to me but he always tells me hes gonna restore it someday .. the old boy has been on the oxygen bottle for years and gets around with a walker , but its his stuff what ya gonna do!!
this beauty was found in the back corner of a field where it had been for at least 30 years .. the chrome and trim are perfect ..the motor fired rite up with a little prep work .. some rust along the bottum where grass grew against it .. if you must let something sit dont let grass grow under it ..

Looks to be a 1931 Plymouth, 4 door sedan. Standard opening front doors, rear suicide doors. Oval rear window. 1930's also had the oval rear window, but from all that I have seen, their radiator caps were just polished round caps. The lady didn't show up unitl 1931. All models before the 1930/31 cars had rectangular rear windows and also after 1931. In late 1933 and after, the hood ornament was a ship and the radiator cap was below the hood.Quote:

Nice looking car. Lots of potential.
