Lighting problem
The problem is the high beam indicator is on whenever the headlights are on(high or low beam) The wiring is all new dimmer switch is new, heck everything is new. I've gone over it several times, everything seems to be correct. If I remove the lights and check for power at the plug it is correct and switches like it should when you hit the dimmer. I did notice that with the bulbs removed the high beam indicator works as it should. I think I'm getting voltage feeding back through the bulbs themselves. Do I need to put diodes in the lines to prevent this? It just doesn't seem right.
Any suggestions......

What kind of vehicle and what changes have you made since it worked properly, if it ever did?

It's a '51 Chevy pickup. Converted to 12 volt, every bit of the electrical is new. This is the only issue I have with it. I was just checking out the bulbs, and I get less than 1 ohm resistance between any of the terminals that's close to a dead short.....

My first thought would be a faulty dimmer switch since the headlight switch only controls the power to the dimmer switch. The only other thing I can think of is a bad ground enabling one bulb to bleed through the other one.

I thought dimmer switch as well, so I replaced the new one with another new one from a different maker. It's not the switch, I'll recheck the grounds.....

The grounds are good.....any other thoughts?

Are you using the same part bulb on both sides? A bud of mine had a '68 Ranger that had a 1083? and a 1197? in the tail lights. When he hit the brakes the dash lights would come on. Because of the different resistance of the two bulbs one was bleeding back through the other one.

They are both GE H6024 bulbs, thinking about it, I wonder if the sockets are wired correctly.

I can't find a wiring diagram.....It's a 3 lug bulb.....Which lug is which?

Thanks for the help guys......Got it figured out, ground and low beam wires were backwards at the plug.....
