He had about three chances to shut it down, and kept getting back on it. Once it hooked left, his time was done anyhow. Why not shut it down?
Pat, did you see him pump his right arm. I don't think he realized how lucky he was. He was just plain P.O.'d
yes i did see that :3dSMILE: that guy is very luckyQuote:

Please comment more on what an a bone is.. and what about that
straight front end axle. also how much trouble would it be to put un
a rack and pinion steering? I brobably should do away with those big
hooker headers, and go with a different set up such as hugger headers.
any other comments, would be appreciated.

I don't know why you would want a straight axle on it...But if that's what you want, check Speedway Motors.
If the A-arms and bushings, ball joints, etc are all still stock you have a lot of room for improvement there. Also if it's the stock steering box, it's probably fairly well worn out and loose after 50 years!!! There are a number of companies making tubular A-Arms for your car, or just a Polyurethene bushing kit and new ball joints are also available. For the steering, there are rack and pinion steering kits available, as well as brackets and adapters to change over to one of the late model GM boxes. What is the ride height of the car, stock height or lowered? Lowering the car lowers the center of gravity. Doing this in addition to a good front sway bar would also help...
