    REAL Gasser Material!

A friend of mine who has spent a lifetime heavily involved in alcohol dragsters and funny cars, just stumbled across a "diamond in the rough".

He is currently restoring one of the original Wonder Wagon Vegas, raced by Don Schumaker in the early '70s, for nostalgia racing.

When he heard about this car, he had to own it. He is talking of a nostalgia gasser, when the Vega is done.

For those who are not familiar with the '48-'52 English Austin, they have been raced by the likes of Jeg Coughlin Sr. and Big John Mazmanian! They were popular in the era of Anglias and Willys, and were considered prime gasser material.

I had a couple of these in my yard in the '60s, but was busy building my first '57 Vette. They both became race cars later. I also helped another friend who had one, to build a beautiful B/Gasser with Max Wedge power!

    "So ugly, that it's cute"!
