1981 GMC Stepside...
Here are some more.
Yup, did the sewing myself too.
what else do I have in here ?
some recent updates.
And what I did today.
This ride is not going to be anything fancy....
I'm still open to suggestions at this point. I know to some of you it ain't a Hot Rod but is what I had to start with.
Feedback welcome...
Hey, if it's a Hot Rod to you, that's really all that matters!!!!! I still build MY cars to make ME happy!!! If nobody else likes them, too bad!!! Do what you want and do it the best you can, that's all that counts.....
What's wrong with it? I think it's coming along very nicely. My only suggestion would be to deep six the spark plug wires if they are Accell's.
Yep perfect statement .Quote:

Duane, I've had nothing but problems with Accell plug wires. For about the same money you can get Taylor Spiral Cores. I have found Accell's to have over 5k resistance per foot and the most I found with Taylor's was 500 ohms in the longest wire.Quote:

Is that a regular Singer sewing machine or an upholstery model?

NTFDAY and Oldf100fordman, what kind of problems were you having with the Accel plug wires?
I'm on my 2nd set of 8.8mm's and they're working well.
Running an MSD 6al and Mallory Unilite distributor fwiw.

I've had problems with their Super Stock series. I had one set that the resistance/impedance on a couple of the wires was over 10k and I've never found a set that didn't have at least 1k. Also went through two of their Super Coils that would break down when they got hot.
Thanks for all the replies guys.
I am indeed building it the way I want. Tickled with the way it turned out soo far. And just to put everyones mind at ease, those are Taylor wires.
Sorry that I couldn't post more pics but a lot of my folders were empty for some reason. I'm in the process of fabbing up a bolt in C-notch kit for suspension travel in the rear. And hope to cut the frony coils in the next week or so. See how it sits and go from there.
I'm also wanting to make some custom fabbed "Stacks" for it. I just gotta be different. Anyone here ever done something like that ?
All input is gladly accepted.
Almost forgot, it is a regular singer that I was using. I also have an industrial machine at work...
I just started fabbin up everything for my home built C-notch kit, any advice is welcome as always.
I'm pretty sure the iron I have is plenty strong. Take a look and let me know.
Yeah Flat, your steel is more than sufficient. You will be fine. Truck is looking great, and I've watched it coming together from the beginning on the other forum, and really like the progress. :) :) :) :)
Don
Thanks Don,
I think what I'm going to do is start another thread when I really get the ball rollin on the c-notch and then do another on the bed/wood floor install as well. Since "The Hurricane" went through the bathroom last night, I may not have to buy any wood at all.(Just a lot of stripping and sanding)
This metal is a real pain to cut just for a notch kit. But I'm gonna finish it either way...Looks kinda sloppy right now too. Guess I can doctor it up when its all done.
Got one piece cut last night. Take a look and tell me what you think.
More than sufficient.........looks great. Should give you lots more travel. :)
Don
Flat looks like it will be as strong as a Ark . So the purpose of this is so you can lower the rear of the truck frame down ? I too am a newbie at the frame mods. I will say trucks do look better when the stance is lowered some what .
Bluestang67,
Thanks for takin a look. I think it might be a good idea for me to just go ahead, finish the cutting and grinding, bolt my kit on there and see what it all looks like and stop questioning myself.
