Hey all,
I have a 1951 Chev pickup. I took out the fuel tank behind the seat and put in a saddle tank. It is just behind the passenger side. Problem is, I need to come up with a custom fuel door. Was thinking about going through the stake pocket, or out side of bed. It is just above the roll pan above the running board, but just below the bed bottom. Any ideas?>

I haven't got to this part on my '49, But how about thru the bed? I've seen a couple real nice set-ups w/flip up doors & even a short piece of the bed wood hinged!, the other thing I was looking at was just putting in a small full hinged door behind the back fender on the drivers side . "I think someone on this forum was talking about using the top of a metal military case, or boat hinges" both very good ideas! (cheap 2)

Well, that gives me some ideas, I have a metal bed not wood. Going to use it as a truck, not a show rig so not sure on that one. Will look into the other suggestions you mentioned. Thanks.
I can't find the company? but they make a real nice "set-up" . You can just weld-in and patch! looks nice. I think the even have some that are curved across the top. "I'll look for it." ;)

how about stealing one off some (new) old junker? the gas door and tube. you can just patch that right in.:D on the out side of the bed or on the fender ?

Hagan fuel doors are a pretty good option. We install a lot of them here at the shop and they're pretty reliable.

I dont think that they will work as an option. Where the tank inlet comes out is just infront of the rear fender above the running board. I only have like 3 inches of room to be below the bed floor and above the roll pan to the running board.
Give our parts counter a call. Tell them your situation and what/where you need to put the door. They can probably find what you need from Hagan or elsewhere, or tell you how to go about it. Ask for Mike or Gary.

way dont you Just run the cap through the origonle hole and run the filler tube down the inner corner of the cab out the floor and into the tank that should work ok unless you dont want anything on the side of you truck that is

Thanks all for your input. I actually put in a fuel door in the front of the fender. I need to finish it up but I will post pictures when it is all done.
